"Do you remember the time when we had tried to bake cookies but we left the oven on high temperature and literally almost burned the kitchen down? Your mom looked like she was about to have a stroke and whooped our behinds?" London asks.
The girls laugh talking about the good time they had when they was teenagers while sitting down on Jasmine's sofa. Eating their favorite ice cream while watching one of Tyler Perry's movie.
"Yes girl, it was that bad that she banned us from the kitchen and if we were ever hungry, we either order takeout or wait on mama to feed us. Girl that shit was tortured." Jasmine said, laughing at the memories of her mother being healthy and happy before the mess had happen.
Jasmine is thankful to have her best friend around to help her get through this painful time.
"How is momma Sid anyways?" London asks, taking a bite of her caramel ice cream.
"She's hanging in there; I spoke to her couple days ago. Turns out she's been talking to her neighbor and they seemed pretty close. So I'm glad that she's moving on." Jasmine answer with a weak smile.
She couldn't help but to be worry about her mother, she's aware that her mom is grown and she can handle herself. However, Jasmine couldn't help but to be concerned. Seeing her mother in depression, wanting to kill herself over a man who doesn't deserve to be alive right now, put a great fear on her that she never wanted her mom to date anyone including the same sex.
Is it selfish of her feeling and thinking this way? She knows it is but she couldn't help it.
She knew her momma deserve to be happy but she also deserve to live, which Jasmine doesn't want to go down the same path ever again. When her first love decided to leave their relationship to start a new life in another state, she felt like her life was falling apart.
Her parents was divorce, she found out she has a half-sister who is two years younger, her mom was in the hospital and what put the icing on the cake was her only happiness had choose to leave. She didn't know what to do, she didn't know how she should handle it except following the same path as her mother until her best friend London prevented it and helped Jasmine get through it all.
London looks at her best friend facial expression change. She places her ice cream cup down on the glass table.
"Know what, let's go out tomorrow night"
"What?" Jasmine asks laughing, taking a bite of her vanilla ice cream until London takes her cup and place it on the table as well.
"You heard me, let's go out tomorrow night. There's this place called Exótico Nightclub that I've been hearing about and I heard that it's lit and the best part is, ladies get in for ten dollars and we get free drinks special hour."
"London, you know I don't go to parties like that. Hell, the last time I ever went to one was"
"When that piece of shit was here during our senior prom night" She cut her off.
Jasmine chuckles again, taking a sip of her Raymond Cabernet wine.
"I don't know London"
"But you need this Jas, as your best friend slash big sister, you need to go out and have fun. Go meet someone and forget about that loser. He's gone and he's never coming back and you're going to have to accept it. I love you sis and you know that but, I can't nor will I ever let you sit here staying sad and continued having hope of something that won't happen." She expressed herself, being honest as she could.
