He woke up in a dazed sweat, fear coursing through his veins. He blinked a few times in order to get his vision to focus. He was in a laboratory, but he wasn't sure who it could have belonged to.

He tried to stand up, only to discover that he was chained to a chair. The more he struggled, the tighter the chains seemed to become. He wish he knew where he was and what was going on; the anxiety was excruciating. He couldn't even recall any events that may have transpired a few minutes ago.

"Hello?" he called out. There was no response, other than his own voice echoing back at him.

This is just not my day, he thought. Now I've been kidnapped, of all things. Once I find out who did this, they are going to pay!

"Enough shouting. You'll worsen my headache."

He squinted his eyes to get a better look at the source of the voice. Out of the shadows stepped...

"Natalie?!"

"Pleasure to see you again, N. Brio," the teenager said, her expression changing to a sinister smirk.

"What is the m-meaning of this?"

"I'm just doing Cortex's bidding, is all. He wants you dead...and who am I to refute?"

"I w-will never understand you."

"Why? Because I was working alongside you and am now doing the complete opposite? You must understand that these things happen. If I didn't obey Cortex and Uka Uka, well, they'd both want to have me killed."

"But this is...g-going too f-f-far! What would your father think?"

"Oh, him? He would be most proud of me, I'm certain. Even if he did care, he wouldn't be able to stop me. In fact, he isn't even in this dimension as we speak."

"What are you talking about?"

"The man has gone to the 5th Dimension. Only God knows when he will return. None of that matters, though. I'm going to do what should have been done a long time ago."

N. Brio's eyes widened as he watched Natalie step closer to him. "N-Natalie, what are you doing? Natalie? NATALIE!"

Her head was suddenly in excruciating pain. She held it in agony as she screamed internally. The others quickly noticed her movements and looked at her in concern.

"Raven, are you okay?" Megumi asked.

"Something...is not right," Raven said. "I-I fear that...no, it had already been done."

"What are you speaking of?" Aku Aku asked.

"I fear that your friend, N. Brio, is in grave danger. It may already be too late for him."

"You're wrong!" Crash snapped. "N. Brio is fine! You'll see!"

"Careful, Crash Bandicoot. You do not want to turn toward the darkness, do you?"

"What's that supposed to mean?"

"That anger will get you nowhere. I learned that the hard way. If you aren't careful, it will consume you."

Crash let out a hefty sigh. He couldn't deny she had a point. Still, he was worried about Nitrus. He was quite possibly one of the only keys to truly stopping Cortex, and now he was gone.
