Waking up on the floor of the alleyway there was a bright light coming from the street beyond.
...: Looks like I slept for quite a while.
After his encounter last night ... had laid on the ground till he slept, after waking up he realized that it was already bright in the middle of the day.
...: Makes sense though I was technically up for almost two days worth of time. Honestly I kinda feel like resting more but I don't have time to waste after all I don't have any food.
Despite the experience last night he showed no signs of shame like he did then as if the night's rest had reset his mood though there were still many bruises to remind him what happened. And after getting himself up he set out into the blinding afternoon light of day being met with the same fantasy world as before reminding him that this was somehow not a dream.
...: I don't want to have to resort to begging on the street but my options are limited here.
Not only options but his time was limited as he had just lost the only food he had so not only would a solution have to get him money but it needed to fast although how paychecks work here may be different than at home.
...: I also don't know how long I'll last with no food, I'm pretty sure you can go like two weeks depending on how active you are.
All these limitations with the fact that he is lost in a new world would make this situation seem hopeless but he had one idea.
...:The military, if it's anything like my world, they'll provide food and shelter for my service. It might be too optimistic but if it works it'll be a great solution.
There was a lot that could go wrong here of course such as needing citizenship/identification to get in, the military already being full, needing an education, ect. But it was worth a shot when left with no other options but first he would need to find out where to go.
O O O O O
...: This looks like the place I think.
Coming across a fairly nice building at the end of the instructions that he got from asking random people he was met with a building separated from the others near it. The building also looked like it was made of more sturdy materials and almost looked like a fort likely to give off the impression that it was a secure location.
...: Well there isn't any reason to wait.
Feeling almost nervous entering he steeled himself to go inside. The inside looked like an office reception area, he had heard that this place was a guards station meant to handle issues related to the city and upon seeing the interior it made him think that it was something like a police station.
Receptionist: Can I help you with anything? Are you looking to report an assault
...: Huh? Oh the bruises? No no I'm fine I was actually looking to join the guards.
Receptionist: Well luckily for you we actually were just taking applications let me get some forms.
This was both good and bad news for ... as one hand it was good news that they were taking more people but on the other hand if there were forms involved then he might need some form of identification.
Receptionist: Here they are, now do you want to apply for a city guard or for the military.
...: Does the military provide for shelter and food?
Receptionist: Yep you'll be applying for full time service and training. You'll also be expected to be called on to fight in war or other issues. However the guards in the city are paid more though they have their own housing.
