Chapter 7

Zach: Good morning!!!

...: Yes yes I know already!

It was a typical morning for ... who had to deal with Zach waking everyone who was still in their bed. It had been a week since he had started as a soldier of the kingdom and while the work was tough he had very slowly started to get used to it

Theo: I still can't believe that you got two royal flushes yesterday.

Ada: It's just how the cards came out.

He could overhear some banter over the game they had played last night. ... had taught them how to play card games from Earth like poker and blackjack which they would play on their downtime as well as checkers with the rocks and the game board. Besides that every night ... would go out to swing a sword around even though they hadn't been using them in their training yet.

Ike: Didn't Gilbart say that he had a special announcement today?

Clyde: Yes so I suggest we get ready quickly.

They all got ready and left for the training area where they usually go in the morning.

Ike: What do you think the announcement will be?

...: Maybe we'll finally start using swords.

Ike: Hopefully using swords will be easier than strength training.

...: It'll probably be harder on your arms.

Zach: But it'll be cool to be a swordsman.

Gilbart: Good morning everyone, your attention here please!

Everyone had gathered together at the training area as they usually do and were talking and speculating amongst themselves till Gilbart loudly got everyone's attention.

Gilbart: I'm sure you're all wondering what this announcement is about.

???: Are we gonna start training with swords?!

Gilbart: Nope! You'll have to give that at least another week.

The crowd became slightly disappointed at this statement since many of them likely wanted to become soldiers to also be swordsmen.

Gilbart: Now back on topic today we're all going to the Royal Palace!

There was some shock among the crowd as going to the Palace is usually a great honor and while it was known to be where the Imperial Knights resided it was unusual for people who were barely soldiers to go there.

Gilbart: Of course you lot wouldn't normally be going but today is a special occasion mourning the loss of many Imperial Knights in fighting the infamous Gut Hunter. Due to this event even we will be present as a show of hope for future generations of knights.

Theo: I heard that they didn't even catch her.

Gilbart: I do have one piece of good news for you, for appearance purposes you'll all be given swords! So go and take one from this box and wear it on your hip, aftwards meet me at the front cause we gotta be there early, oh and please don't go and swing them around at each other. I don't have time to deal with trouble today.

Once Gilbart finished everyone eagerly grabbed a sword from the box he brought. The swords were all very average and identical to each other, likely some sort of regulated standard weapon. Despite being told not to, some people started to play around with them while others admired theirs.

Zach: Isn't this so cool we get to go to the palace with swords!

Ike: I suppose it's better than being here exercising myself to death.
