For the past two weeks, Kim Dokja had been deprived of sleep, worn thin by the relentless string of scenarios imposed by bored Constellations. These scenarios had pushed him and his companions to their limits, and Dokja's exhaustion was beginning to take its toll. He had developed a persistent headache that threatened to escalate into a debilitating migraine.
Late one night, as the group tried to find solace in sleep, another scenario unfolded, interrupting their rest. Yoo Joonghyuk, the ever-vigilant swordmaster, barged into Dokja's room and, in a moment of frustration, practically dragged him out of bed.
"Get up, Dokja. We have another scenario to complete," Yoo Joonghyuk's voice was as stern as ever, but Dokja felt his patience wearing thin.
The sleep-deprived leader rose from his bed, rubbing his temples in a futile attempt to alleviate his growing headache. "Alright, Joonghyuk. I'm coming."
As they faced the scenario, Dokja's exhaustion began to show. He fumbled, made mistakes, and it didn't take long for Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung, the teasing fighter and writer, to take notice.
"Can't you focus, Dokja?" Yoo Joonghyuk's voice was critical, and it grated on Dokja's fraying nerves.
Han Sooyoung chimed in, smirking. "Yeah, you're usually so much better at this."
Dokja gritted his teeth, trying to maintain his composure, but the irritation and pain were building up inside him. His remaining companions, including Jung Heewon, Lee Hyunsung, Lee Seolhwa, Shin Yoosung, Lee Gilyoung, and Lee Jihye, felt the tension in the air but were helpless in the face of Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung's relentless remarks.
After the grueling battle, Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung's nagging and teasing only increased. Dokja's headache grew, and his patience waned. The world around him seemed to blur as irritation and anger clouded his judgment.
"Dokja, you're not even trying!" Yoo Joonghyuk's words were like a constant barrage of criticism.
Han Sooyoung added insult to injury. "I thought you were our fearless leader, but now you're just a disappointment."
It was at that moment that Dokja snapped. His voice rose in frustration as he shouted at Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung, "ENOUGH! Can't you see I'm doing my best? I'm exhausted, and I have a headache!"
Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung were taken aback, the shock registering on their faces as Dokja's outburst rang through the air.
Dokja's companions watched, a mix of amusement and surprise, but the amusement soon gave way to concern as Dokja's temper flared. And then, something unexpected happened. Dokja's headache intensified, and he felt blood trickling down his nose. He wiped it away with the back of his hand, leaving a smear of crimson.
Shin Yoosung, the young girl who affectionately called Dokja "Ahjussi" for saving her, whispered, "What's happening to Ahjussi?"
Lee Jihye, the apprentice swordswoman and aspiring student of Yoo Joonghyuk, trembled. "He's bleeding... he needs help."
As Dokja's migraine continued to escalate, his voice grew strained, and he ran home, away from the battlefield and the prying eyes of his companions. He needed to escape the noise, the nagging, and the pain that seemed to consume him.
Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung were left bewildered, their teasing transformed into genuine worry. They exchanged a glance, their stern expressions replaced with concern.
Jung Heewon, who had always seen Dokja as her little brother, spoke up. "We need to find Dokja and make sure he's okay."
The group hurried after their leader, who had become the embodiment of strength and vulnerability. They realized that even the most steadfast of leaders had their breaking points, and they needed to be there to support him through the pain, both seen and unseen.
After some time Dokja's companions had returned home, concern gnawing at them after witnessing his unexpected outburst and sudden retreat. It was Han Sooyoung who had first entered Dokja's room and found him sleeping, his usually serene face marked with exhaustion.
Recognizing the need for rest, Han Sooyoung left the room and informed the rest of Dokja's companions that he was asleep. Relief washed over them as they realized he was at least getting some much-needed rest.
Morning arrived, but Dokja was notably absent from the breakfast table. His companions, who had also been exhausted by the constant scenarios, were slow to wake, only stirring from their sleep around 11:30 AM. They made their way to the dining area, where they were met with an empty chair at the table. Dokja was missing.
Jung Heewon took it upon herself to check on their leader. Knocking gently on Dokja's bedroom door, she received no reply. Worried, she entered and found all the curtains drawn, casting the room in dim light. As she approached Dokja's bed, she realized he was breathing heavily, his face contorted as if he were trapped in a nightmare.
Assuming he was having a bad dream, Jung Heewon shook his shoulder gently, trying to wake him from the torment of his sleep. Dokja slowly stirred, his eyelids fluttering open. However, as he attempted to stand up, his legs gave way, and he fell forward
Jung Heewon's concern escalated. She caught him by the waist to prevent him from hitting the ground. The heat radiating from Dokja's body and his clammy skin alarmed her, and she instinctively pressed her hand to his forehead. The heat was nearly unbearable, and it sent a wave of panic through her.
Worried, Jung Heewon called for Lee Seolhwa, who was well-versed in medical matters. Lee Seolhwa and dokja's companions ran to dokja's room and noticed dokja weak and Lee Seolhwa quickly assessed Dokja's condition, and her expression turned serious.
"Dokja is suffering from a high fever," she informed the group. "He's severely dehydrated."
The realization that their leader had pushed himself to the brink of exhaustion weighed heavily on the group. They gathered around him, their concern evident. Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung, in particular, felt guilt gnawing at them. They had contributed to Dokja's stress and exhaustion with their relentless teasing and nagging during the scenario, and it had taken a toll on him.
Both Yoo Joonghyuk and Han Sooyoung approached Dokja, their faces etched with remorse. Yoo Joonghyuk was the first to speak, his voice heavy with regret. "Dokja, I'm sorry for the way I treated you. I didn't realize how exhausted you were."
Han Sooyoung added her apology, her voice softer than usual. "I should have been more considerate, Dokja. I didn't mean to push you so hard."
Dokja, however, couldn't reply. His voice was gone, stolen by the fever and exhaustion that now ravaged his body.
Jung Heewon couldn't help but feel sympathetic as she saw her leader in such a weakened state. She understood that he had already forgiven them, but they were desperate to convey their remorse.
For three days, they took turns caring for Dokja, ensuring he rested and was adequately hydrated. Each day, Dokja's companions apologized to him, their voices heavy with guilt. Still, he couldn't respond.
Lee Seolhwa was aware of Dokja's predicament, but she found a strange amusement in watching her companions' reactions. She kept the secret, allowing them to grapple with their guilt and worry.
On the fifth day, Dokja finally managed to communicate with them. His voice was hoarse and barely audible, but he conveyed his message.
"I forgave you all a long time ago," he managed to whisper, his gaze filled with warmth.
Relief washed over his companions as they realized that he held no grudge against them. They had come to understand the toll the scenarios had taken on their leader and the lengths to which he had pushed himself to protect them.
As they realized that Dokja's voice was returning, his companions couldn't help but laugh at the comical mix of worry and relief they had been through. It was a reminder that even in the most trying of times, their bonds of friendship and support were unbreakable.
The laughter in Dokja's room was a testament to the unshakable unity of the group, and as they moved forward, they resolved to be more understanding of each other's limits and well-being. It was a lesson they had learned the hard way, but it had strengthened their connection as companions, making them even more formidable in the face of the ever-escalating scenarios imposed by the mischievous Constellations.
