The next morning, Fin was deep asleep until his alarm clock for school went off. He was drooling on his pillow and slowly opened his eyes. Getting up from bed and stretching his arms out, he checked his phone hoping Elle would have responded to his messages. Nothing. He got up and stepped into his pink bunny slippers Ash got him and the boys for Christmas. He went to the restroom to wash his face, washing off his eye-crustiest, and gargling mouthwash to get rid of his morning breath.
He got a text alert, and he ran to check, it wasn't Elle, but it was Ash, "Morning beautiful! Just wanted to let you know that yesterday at the party, Jacob was telling us about a surprise he had planned for us this weekend, he wanted to go over it with us during lunch, if Elle wouldn't mind letting you come sit with us today?"
Fin wasn't too sure he was going to even get to sit with Elle today anyway, he was starting to think he probably did something to upset her.
"Hey, yeah, sounds great, see you there!" He replied.
"Ash gave him the thumbs up and kissing emoji"

Fin came downstairs for breakfast, his little brother Cory was eating a big stack of pancakes drizzled with syrup. "Hey, save me one!" He said.
"Snooze, you lose big bro," Cory said.
Their mom Sarah was flipping pancakes and pouring Fin a glass of orange juice, "Morning hun, how was the party? did you and Elle get back home safe?" She asked.
He figured if his mother found out he had to walk home alone in the middle of the night, she would get mad and worried, and possibly never let him go out with his friends again. He lied to her that Elle did give him a ride back, "yeah, we got home safe,"
He sat across from Cory and had some pancakes with OJ. The mini TV they had in the kitchen was playing the news about a crime that occurred just two hours away from them, Fin asked his mother to turn up the volume.
"We are standing outside of the CenVille Party Supply store, where not only did a burglary happen here, but a murder! The night guard who protects this place by night has been killed, suspect are two people who stole what seemed to be Halloween masks" They display images of the two masks that were stolen, they were creepy clown masks, one sad, one happy.
Fin hoped nothing like that would happen closer to them, or that they catch them before they make their way to their hometown.
Sarah quickly turned the television off, she didn't want her boys to worry about any crimes. "Hurry up and finish your pancakes, sweetie, you don't want to miss the bus." She told Cory.
"You know, I should get going too," Fin said. He put his plate in the sink and gave his mom a side hug, she kissed him on his head, and Fin grabbed his backpack from the kitchen chair and took off. Sarah assumed Elle was waiting for him outside, but he knew that wasn't the case.
Fin walked through his neighborhood listening to his favorite indie music. His neighborhood was peaceful and everyone living there was super friendly. He walked past his neighbors watering their plants, and going out for morning walks, and everyone waved or said good morning to him.

He reached the corner right down the street and stopped when an old family friend was sitting outside the coffee shop reading the newspaper and having his morning latte and his favorite oatmeal cookies. "HEY FINNY! How are you doing my boy?"
This was Todd, a 78-year-old retired mailman, he was a friend of Fin's grandfather.
"Well I've been better, but you know, I'm trying to get through it," He said.
"Oh no, Finny  what's going on, have a seat, cookie?" Fin took a seat but declined Todd's oatmeal cookie, "No thank you" he replied.
"I'm having problems with my girlfriend,"
"Ah, girl problems eh?"
"Yeah, but I don't know what to do about it, I mean she hasn't responded to any of my messages or called me back."
"Well my boy, all I could tell you is that women are hard to get them to forgive you, but eventually you both work things out and I promise you, things will work out."
Fin thought about what he said, then realized maybe they needed more time apart, like at the party. "Thanks, Todd, I'll work on that. Well, I got to get going, I don't want to be late. It was nice running into you Todd, take care!"
"It was great to see you too kid," he said.
Fin got up and started walking until he was stopped one last time by Todd, "Oh, hey kid!"
Fin stopped and turned, "You know, I was hearing something on the news about some criminals that attracted that guard in CenVille, You be careful out on the streets alone, and don't make any trips outside the area until they get caught, it's not safe out."
