-Kyleigh's POV-

One Month Later

I tap my foot quietly on the carpet as I stare at the door in front of me. I always hate doing shifts by myself, especially at night. Not only is it slightly terrifying because of how dark it is, but it's also insanely boring. But I get it, everyone needs to sleep.

About 20 minutes pass of me doing absolutely nothing, when suddenly I hear shuffling. I grab the knife from beside me and stand up, trying to see through the darkness. The only source of light in the room is a candle, but it only illuminates about a foot or two in front of me. I grip the knife tighter as the shuffling gets closer to me, but then I hear, "Hey, chill. It's just me."

I lower the knife as Erica walks into the room.

"You scared the shit out of me," I say as I can feel heart pumping in my chest.

"Sorry," She says, giving an apologetic smile, "I was trying to be quiet."

We both sit down on the couch as I ask, "Why are you in here?"

"Couldn't sleep, so I thought I'd give you some company," She grins.

"I appreciate that, but you should try to sleep. You know we're planning to travel tomorrow. You'll need the energy," I say.

"Don't worry. I'll be fine. If anything, I'll randomly fall asleep while you're talking just like in the olden days," She says, laying back on the couch and getting comfortable, "How many times do you think I fell asleep while you were talking at sleepovers?"

I laugh, "I'm pretty sure that happened every single time you stayed over. The number of times I would be in the middle of telling a story and I'd stop talking just to hear you snoring was insane."

"Hey," Erica nudges me with her foot, "I do not snore."

I tilt my head, "Debatable."

"I don't!" She argues, "But do you know who does? Your brother."

"Don't even get me started on Chris," I roll my eyes, "I swear you can hear that man snoring from a mile away."

Erica covers her mouth to stop from laughing, "It's so bad."

"Are him and Harry still sleeping?" I ask.

"Yeah, they're both completely out," She replies.

"That's good. At least some of us will get some sleep," I say. Erica nods and we're quiet for a few moments before I ask, "Do you know what I was thinking about before you came in?"

"Hmmm. Pumpkin pie?" Erica guesses.

"No, but I would kill for a pumpkin pie right now," I say, realizing just how hungry I am.

"I would, too," Erica replies, "What were you thinking about?"

"Tomorrow will be exactly a month since the Halloween party."

Her eyes widen, "You're kidding. It's already been a month?"

"Yup."

"I didn't even know you were keeping track of the days," She says.

"I didn't intentionally do it at first, but now I like to do it for a bit of normalcy," I shrug.

"I like that you know what day it is. Everything has been such a blur to me that I couldn't tell you if it was November or fucking March."
