-Kyleigh's POV-

"I think my legs are broken," I say, laying straight down on the floor.

"You only ran for three minutes," George says with raised eyebrows.

"My point still stands," I say as I try to regulate my breathing.

"I'm with Kyleigh. My arms feel like jello," Erica says before taking a sip of water.

"You guys are such wimps. Luckily with our help, you will get stronger and become better. Plus, it's only our third day of training," George says.

"I know it sucks, but it's important for your survival. If there's a hoard of zombies running after us, you're most likely going to have to run for longer than three minutes," Arthur says.

I groan as I sit up, "Don't even put that thought into existence. I would die."

"No, you wouldn't. At least not if you keep training," Arthur replies, "If it makes you feel any better, once the others are done with their sessions, we're done for the day."

"Really? It's only 10a.m.," I say, looking down at my watch.

"I know. We'll get a full session in tomorrow, don't you worry," George grins, "But Ethan and Harry found a place nearby they think we should scavenge. We decided to check it out today while the weather is clear."

"Sounds good to me," I say, jumping up from the floor.

"Didn't you just say your legs were broken?" Arthur jokingly asks.

"Trust me, they were. But now that I know we're scavenging instead of training, they're good as new."

"Right," George rolls his eyes, "Just for that comment, you need to do another lap around the building."

My face drops, "You're kidding."

"Not at all," George smiles, "You better get going before the others get back, or else I'm adding two more laps to that."

I look over at Erica hoping she'll say something, but she just mouths "Sorry." I groan as I begin running my lap.

An hour later, we all walk back to our base to get ready for the scavenging trip. Ethan starts directing us toward the location, but when he starts cursing at the map because we walked in the wrong direction for twenty minutes, I take over as the navigator.

When we arrive at the center, we all stop in our tracks. Not only is the area bigger than I think any of us expected, but it's also completely overrun. There are easily 50 zombies here.

"What do you guys want to do?" Erica asks quietly.

"I say we go for it. If there's this many zombies here, it probably means no one has looked in this area for a while. We just need to be careful," Chris replies.

"I agree with Chris. We made it this far, so we may as well check the entire area out," Erica says.

"Do we want to split up?" I ask, "We can enter from two different points. That way we can distract the zombies and take them down easier."

"Smart thinking. Should we do Harry, Chip, Kyleigh and me, and then George, Arthur, Chris, and Erica?" Ethan suggests.

Everyone agrees with the groupings, and we quickly devise a plan. My group is going to run along the back of the buildings until we get to the other side. We'll then signal to the other group, and we'll both close in on the zombies, hopefully splitting their attention in two different directions.
