A loud banging on her door woke Octavia up from her sleep. She remembered their father had made it clear to everyone, that they would 'must' come to welcome their new sister. There were many important events she had missed and no one was ever bordered to call her, maybe this new daughter was that important?
Welcoming a new daughter was  anything but special, she had been present when Gwen's mom had brought her here and there wasn't any welcome dinner for Gwen, it was just like every other day and that was the most pleasant welcome of them all. Finally she has found which one their father has always loved best or better still was more important, love didn't seem like the right word for what it was. Looks like she wouldn't be holding the crown for too long.

Standing up reluctantly from the bed, Octavia made her way to the bathroom she wasn't going to change her way of doing things just for some girl she was yet to meet, besides she still needed to freshing up.

AT THE DINNER ROOM...

"Where is she?"  Her father asked Roman who simply shrugged his shoulders. He looked calm on the outside, but Roman knew better he was a volcano threatening to explode any moment from now.

"She didn't open up" Roman said after being glared by him.
The room was now so quiet that one could hear the sound of a pin drop. All eyes turned to the man at the head of the table who seemed to be one second away from strangling someone. The tension in the air was so thick, you could cut through with a knife.

"If you keep on frowning, am afraid you'll get old faster than expected, dad " a soft voice said after what felt like forever.

There she was, walking like she had all the time in the world, looking beautiful as always even with the large glasses framing her small oval shaped face, face that was devoid of any emotions or makeup even.

Octavia was wearing a casual gown, with flower patterns. She seemed to have not noticed the thick tension in the air. Gliding the heavy chair calmly, she sat down not one bit bothered by the looks she was receiving, mostly looks servants will receive when they overstepped their boundaries. Looking down at her clothes, she realized she was the only one who was not dressed do formal.

"You're not properly dressed"  Xenia pointed out immediately she was settled, her Russian accent drifting off her words. What was she expecting, a peaceful family dinner? Impossible! This was more like the survival of the fittest.

"If you don't have any dress sister, I  can always lend you some I have many. "  Lian said her voice sweeter than honey, making it seem like she really cared for her. Lian was no angel and they all knew that, only outsiders still got fooled by her act. She was just like toadstools, beautiful but poisonous.

Rolling her eyes secretly, in annoyance Octavia couldn't help but wish she had just gone out and stayed somewhere else.

Her father sat in silence, watching them keenly like a child would watch ants gather their food. He had no intention of intervening, if Octavia didn't know better she would have thought he was amused with them. But she knew it was just one of his tests, he was gauging her reaction, he had made her understand that if  she couldn't be happy at least she would be angry. He wanted to see something unlike her blank face and most importantly she knew he was contemplating whether to allow her still keep the crown.

She wasn't going to let him have the satisfaction of seeing her pissed, besides matters like this where like child's play to her. Since he wanted to just watch like an observer, how about giving him the perfect show.

" as long as sister Lian is okay with it" . Octavia said looking nervously at her fingers, that where placed on her laps.

Ha! They wanted to play, she would as well give them a real show.

" Of course, sister Lian would give you, we're family after all."

"Thank you sister".

Stealing a glance at her father, Octavia smiled in satisfaction, she just loved to see the look of disappointment her father held in his eyes, for her. Every person thought she was happy to get exclusive clothes from her chinese model sister.
What a stupid girl! Everyone thought.

" We aren't lacking money, why should she wear your leftovers? "

Turning her head to the girl sitting next to her father, she looked at her looking flustered. It's just felt strange to see someone who said things in this family without any bad motive . Studying her carefully, Octavia smiled like she was truly shy and embarrassed, the new daughter looked so much like their father. Her hair was midnight black like his, the nose was straight and pointed like his, the way her blood red lips moved in sync with her words like their father talked when angry.

" No need to worry your self Mel, We would talk about this sometime later, just get something presentable to wear Octavia."

"Why? I thought this was just a family dinner."
