Daemerea stood with her mother as her eyes scanned over the piece of parchment that had been sent by her uncle, Daemon.

His wife, Lady Laena Velaryon, had died in childbirth. An odd combination of emotions flashed over Elaena's face.

Daemerea couldn't tell if her mother was sad, afraid, or confused. Elaena's face wasn't good at showing how she felt, but once a tear slid down her cheek, Daemerea knew that her mother was sad.

She held her mother in a hug as she looked up. "Did something bad happen?" Elaena couldn't bring herself to speak to the girl.

"Should I call Father?" Elaena merely nodded, causing the girl to let go and run off to where she thought her father would be.

As she was about to enter his chamber, she overheard him speaking to someone. It was a voice she didn't recognize. It was a person she had yet to meet.

"Why should they marry? She's only twelve." She heard her father say. "It's too early."

"The girl is almost the same age as my son. It's perfect. If we want him to have an heir..." Daemerea definitely knew this was a woman. Her voice was too soft to be a man.

As she leaned closer, she suddenly felt a hand on her shoulder.

"Princess, what are you doing out here?" Ser Harris spoke with concern as he looked at the girl.

"Nothing, Harry. I was looking for my father. My mother needs him." The knight smiled at the nickname the white-haired girl had given him.

"Very well. I shall fetch him for you." The small girl mustered up a smile, but as soon as the guard left, her face went back to its natural state.

She walked off, deciding that Ser Harris had it covered. She wasn't needed.

Suddenly, she smelled a sweet smell that was easily recognizable. Cake. Lemon and honey cakes, to be specific.

She wasn't the only one seemingly entranced by the smell. She looked to her right as her brother, Rhaegar, made his way to the kitchen.

Daemerea chuckled as the boy spotted her. Although he wasn't exactly a boy anymore. Rhaegar had just turned fifteen.

The two exchanged a look as Rhaegar called her closer, and they entered the kitchen together.

Daemerea had a giddy look on her face once again, her eyes glistening with contempt as she stared at the cakes in front of her.

These were apparently for Princess Rhaenyra. She'd developed quite the sweet tooth when she was expectant, but even though the babe had already been born, the sweet tooth didn't go away.

Rhaegar and Daemerea glanced at one another once again as they looked at the sweet treats on the plates in front of them.

They both frowned. This couldn't be for one person. There was way too much of them.

Daemerea wanted to walk around the plates and count the cakes, but she suddenly felt her brother pull her back as he ducked out of the way.

A plate was taken by a handmaiden. "Remember, these are for the Princess. The King has made it very clear that no one else is to touch these."

Rhaegar smirked as Daemerea frowned. The cakes were really all for Princess Rhaenyra.

Suddenly, she heard a groan. She failed to notice that Rhaegar stood up. She was too busy looking at the boy next to them.

They had hidden behind a wall where the wine was kept, and this boy reeked of it. It took her a while to notice, but when she finally did, she was even more confused.

This boy was a Targaryen.

He groaned again, causing the girl to jump slightly. "Why are you here?" He asked. "Mother told you to stay in your chambers."

This boy was clearly under the impression that Daemerea was someone else. She frowned at the boy as he opened his eyes completely, staring at her.

"Wait... you're not Helaena." It was then that Daemerea realized who this was. This was Prince Aegon.

"No, I'm not." Daemerea said, looking to the side slightly, as if she was expecting the person that Aegon was searching for to appear out of thin air.

"Well then, who are you?" He asked. "Daemerea." Aegon groaned once again as he took another sip of the wine in his cup.

"Daemerea... nope! Sorry! Still have no idea who you are." His speech was slurred as he squinted, trying to see if he could recognize the girl.

"Dae." She heard a whisper as she looked up. Rhaegar smiled down at her. He had a small wheat bag in his hand, which carried the cakes he had just snatched.

Daemerea stood up, still staring at the boy. She made her way out of the kitchen with Rhaegar as they entered the chamber he was staying in with Aeryn.

He opened the bag of cakes, smiling as he stuffed one in his mouth. Daemerea seemed distracted, however.

"What is it?" Rhaegar asked. "Nothing. It's nothing. But I think I just saw Prince Aegon drinking wine in the kitchen." Rhaegar chuckled as he offered her a honey cake.

"Come on. We have to eat them before we're caught." Daemerea took the cake, taking a small bite before taking two more bites, devouring the entire cake.

She shook her hands off as she walked back outside, bumping into someone in the process.

When she saw who it was, she immediately turned away. "I apologize, your Grace." She said as Alicent Hightower looked at the young girl.

She looked so much like Rhaenyra in her youth. The resemblance was almost uncanny.

"No need. Daemerea, is it?" The girl nodded. "It's a pleasure to meet you." Daemerea gave her a small nod, noticing that the woman's voice sounded extremely familiar.

"This might be a bit of a stupid question, but did you happen to see my son, Aegon, anywhere?" She asked.

"I believe he's in the kitchen," Daemerea spoke, causing Alicent to roll her eyes. "I expected that. Thank you, Daemerea." The girl gave another small nod and a curtsy before the Queen walked off.

Something told her that this wouldn't be the last awkward interaction she had with the royal family.
