Daemerea stood with her siblings as they listened to Vaemond Velaryon speak. Daemerea hated that she understood nothing.

Rhaegar would whisper words to them every now and then, so they knew what was going on, but it didn't really help.

Elaena would teach the children High Valyrian when she had time, but recently, she never had time for anyone except Gael.

Rhaegar knew the most, as he was the eldest, but Viserra didn't usually pay any attention to her mother in the High Valyrian lessons.

Daemerea, on the other hand, loved the teachings and always gave her full focus, although she still struggled.

She could understand it when it was spoken slowly, but Vaemond spoke quickly, which made her rely on her eldest brother.

Rhaegar suddenly stopped speaking, causing the girl to look up at him. He was distracted by something.

Daemerea found it quite confusing when she heard Daemon, her uncle, laugh. It was his wife's funeral. She didn't understand why he was laughing.

As Laena's body was dropped into the sea, Daemerea felt a hand go over her shoulder.

When she looked up, her mother stood over them, glancing down at her children with glassy eyes.

Daemerea squeezed her mother's hand as she led them back up to the castle. In truth, Elaena had been to Driftmark multiple times before.

She didn't dare tell any of her children, much less her husband, that she was quite close to Laena in their younger years. She missed her friend. And now she'd never see her again.

As Daemerea walked off, Elaena felt a hand on her own shoulder. When she looked up, her brother stood there, a small smile on his face.

"I've missed you, dear sister." He said, causing a tear to fall down Elaena's cheek.

The siblings embraced each other for the first time in years as Elaena cried. This was the first time Elaena cried in front of people.

Daemerea looked back at her mother, confused as to why she stopped. She witnessed the interaction between the two.

She was not the only one who was watching the interaction, however. Rhaenyra Targaryen stood a few steps away, looking at the two as they hugged each other for what seemed like an eternity.

It seemed as if age hadn't affected the two at all. They still had the same faces they had when Rhaenyra was young.

She stared at the two as they let go, and Elaena made her way back to her children.

Rhaenyra and Elaena now had one thing in common. They were both mothers, which was why Rhaenyra was able to carry some sympathy for her aunt.

However, in this instance, Elaena was getting in the way of something that Rhaenyra wanted. Daemon.

Elaena brought her children closer so they could meet their uncle, but after the previous disappointments they'd suffered when meeting their other uncle, they stood behind their mother.

Daemerea was especially cautious of Daemon. She'd heard what he was capable of and didn't want to meet the same fate as so many others.

She knew her uncle was less than eager to meet her. She was sure of it. He wasn't exactly the type of person who cared for anyone other than his own children.

Daemerea was proven wrong when she looked up, seeing her uncle's surprisingly soft lilac eyes staring back at her.

Daemon looked at the girl's own violet eyes, noticing how much of a resemblance she shared with her mother.
