That morning Do-young not Guk-doo drives her to the PD. Arriving at her desk, Bong-soon recalls the bizarre events from a while ago. Guk-doo did show his face. Outside her home, he'd been next to Do-young in the patrol car. Then saying he took the day off, he bid adieu, leaving things in Do-young's hands.

Strangely, Do-young claimed he knew nothing about this day off. They rode to the PD in silence. Though a bit worried, Bong-soon smiles at the sunset painting. She's finally able to paint a little something, and it's all thanks to Guk-doo. What's he up to? Why a day off... There are no answers to these questions, and a long day lies ahead of her.

Lunch hour. She's sure she's alone at her desk when she lets out her emotions as a high-pitched shriek.

"I got a job. YAAAAYYYY! I OT IT!"

"Did you, Bong-soon? From where?"

The words freeze her in her spot. Her arms half hovering above her head, above her head, her body barely seated in the chair.

"Bong-soon."

Guk-doo... Is this witchcraft? How did he sneak up on me? He's even pulled a chair and sat next to me? Why didn't I notice?

"Huh, Guk-doo! When did you get back?"

Guk-doo gives her a sly, knowing smile when she turns in her swivel chair. His gaze meets hers, unwavering, enchanting.

"Right now. I wanted to check on you."

"What about your day off?"

"My arrangements were completed faster than I expected. Now, care to tell me why you are screeching?"

Bong-soon puffs her cheeks. She wants to ask what arrangements but decides against it. It's surely something confidential. The afternoon heat warmed up the room. She'd taken off her jacket. Engrossed in her phone, she forgot where she was. Almost. Now is the time to put on the jacket.

She's on official business at the PD. She needs to learn what this official business is. What's the Chief's plan for her? Her time in the PD isn't miserable. She can wander around the space during office breaks. There's interesting gossip to catch at places. Being here is a perk. She's at a place inaccessible to the public.

Incredible, isn't it? It's as if she turned into a sleuthing assistant. But there's no telling if this is a waste of time. Her thoughts were a mess this morning. The notification she just received on her phone is her silver lining. She has to do this job, regardless of her circumstances.

"Screeching?" She focuses her gaze on Guk-doo again, regretting spacing out before him. It resulted in him moving his chair closer, waving his hands before her face. That handsome face too close is bad for her heart!

"I wasn't screeching, Guk-doo-ah! Am I a cat?"

"You're cute as a kitten."

"K-kitten? C-cute?"

Guk-doo shrugs. With a boyish smile, he tousles her hair. She can't prevent the action. By the time she brings her hands to either side of her head, it's already too late.

"Yeah. You're cute." Guk-doo grins from ear to ear.

"Uh huh..."

Bong-soon glares at him, fighting her blush. How dare you attack my weaknesses, Guk-doo-ah!?

Guk-doo puts some space between them. "What? Why are you looking at me? Tell me about this job and your employer."

"I was glaring at you! Anndddd here's the overprotective guy I was missing. Thank you."
