I have spent the past weeks trying to make Leah's life completely fucking miserable.

I've done everything from throwing passive-aggressive comments, making insulting remarks, and exclude her from our plans. I have even done my best to distract Mattheo whenever he spends a fraction of his time with her.

My intentions have been to discourage her from wanting to be around us, and I think it is working. Finally.

As the Christmas season is approaching and winter break draw near, I notice a significant change in her. Leah's eyes seem vacant and empty, and she wears a baggy Slytherin shirt most of the days. I still unwillingly notice the unhealthy amount of weight she has lost throughout the year, and I still unwillingly let my eyes linger over her when no one else is looking.

My jaw clenches as I spot Mattheo making her laugh, the two of them sitting huddled up in the couch that stands in the centre of the common room. It is at this very moment that I truly understand the phrase 'seeing red'.

I move my lips and before I know it the word incendio has spilled from my mouth. Flames of fire dance around the ends of her hair, causing her to jump away from Mattheo. Frantically, she tries to pat out the fire from her dark tresses with her hands.

Taking deep breaths, her hand now over her chest, she inhales and exhales. She quickly regains her composure and sits down on the couch again, but not before glancing at me.

Hatred and rage flares through her brown eyes as she looks at me. Her eyes briefly dart to Mattheo, and she mutters something to him that prompts an eye roll in response.

Come on, babe,❞ Mattheo interjects, ❝you really think Theodore would go that far? He's just studying with Enzo.

Enzo is sitting in front of me, slightly to the left, offering me a clear view of Leah and Mattheo. Despite this, I keep my eyes focused on the book which lay in front of me, not concerning myself too much with Enzo. He has been preoccupied with his phone the entire time we have been studying, tapping away and texting. Most likely with Pansy. For some reason, he seems to have always had a soft spot for her.

Leah's agitation is apparent even in my peripheral vision, despite her remaining relatively quiet and composed. She doesn't make a lot of sound or fuss. She never does.

Mattheo's voice breaks the silence, and I glance up from my book to see him almost laughing at Leah. ❝You're getting ridiculous now,❞ he says. ❝You always think he is out to get you.
