Ch.17

Alexis's POV
"I'm sorry Alexis, but unfortunately you've had a miscarriage," the doctor said. My worst fear was happening. All I could do was cry and ask God why. The doctor looked at me and Mrs. Raymond and walked out. She sat on the bed and pulled me into her arms. Tears just kept running down my face. After a while, I got up and got myself together."
"Let's go," I said softly. We walked out and walked to Mrs. Raymond's car. Once she started driving, I fell asleep. I woke up when the car stopped. I looked around and saw that we weren't at my apartment.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"My house," she said unbuckling her seatbelt. "I don't want you going back there tonight because he may come back. Tomorrow morning I'm taking you to the store so you can get the stuff to change your locks," she said helping me out of the car. We walked into the house and her dog ran up on my leg.
"Uh.. Mrs. Raymond, can you get your dog?" I asked about to have a heart attack. She started laughing and took it into another room. While she was gone, I started roaming around the house. It was nice as hell. I sat down on the couch and started to think. As soon as tears started coming to my eyes, I heard somebody walk into the room.
"I got you some clothes to sleep in," she said handing me some pajamas. "They're gonna be a little big, but it's what I have," she said smiling. I forced a smile and looked down. She sat down next to me and pulled me into a hug. Tears just started flowing down my face. It's one thing after another. I started to feel light headed after a while.
"Where's your restroom?" I asked wiping my face.
"Down the hall, first door on the right." I got to the bathroom and got a face towel and ran cold water on it. I looked in the mirror and my heart dropped and immediately tears start back streaming down my face. I was bruised up so badly. I almost didn't look like the same person. I really don't know what to do right now other than cry. I sat on the floor and tried to process everything that just happened. Mrs. Raymond walked into the bathroom and looked at me. She got the towel and wiped my face gently while I fought back tears. When she finished, she handed me the pajamas and I got dressed. She led me to her guest room and got me settled in.
"You okay?"
"Not really. I just need some sleep right now," I said laying down.
"Alright. Goodnight," she said turning the lights off and walking out. When she left out, I just laid down and thought about how fucked up my life is right now. I closed my eyes and fell asleep.

Mrs. Raymond's POV
After I left out of the guest room, I walked up to my room and sat on my bed and cried. My husband looked up from his laptop and crawled next to me.
"What's wrong?" he asked.
"Do you remember my student Alexis that I told you about?"
"Yeah. What about her?"
"She's been going through so much and my heart aches for her."
"What happened?" he asked rubbing my back.
"Her ex-boyfriend cheated on her with her bestfriend and got her pregnant, she got an abortion, she's not on good terms with her mother, she got pregnant again, and her current boyfriend beat her which caused her to have a miscarriage."
"Wow. Well, Tiffany what we can do is pray for her and help in whatever way possible. Where is she now?"
"In the downstairs guest room."
"Oh okay. You need to get some rest. You look tired," he said looking in my eyes.
"I am," I said changing into my pajamas. "Did Chris come home yet?" I asked getting into bed.
"Yeah. He's been home for a while so he's probably sleeping."
"Oh okay," I said starting to doze off.
"I love you," my husband said kissing me and turing the lamp off.
"I love you too."
