Ch. 6

*Alexis's POV*
"Ma, what is he doing here?" I asked with my mind racing.
"Alexis? My babygirl, is that you?" my father asked standing up and walking towards me. He attempted to put his hand on my cheek, but I moved so he wouldn't.
"Please, don't be like that," he said looking sad.
"What do you mean don't be like that!? You took off to marry another woman and left my mama with us. You went off and lived happily with your new wife and children and forgot all about us and you come back expecting everything to be perfect!? Are you out of your mind?" I asked angrily. As he was about to say something, my mama started talking.
"Alexis, calm down. You need to sit down," my mama said with her voice trembling. I sat down next to Dre who looked like he was in deep thought. My mama sighed and tears started falling.
"I haven't been honest with you two. Your father didn't just leave out of nowhere and run off to marry another woman. We had been arguing for a while, and one night I got sick of it and put him out. Shortly after I found out that I was pregnant with you, Alexis. In order to keep him from finding out, I changed my number and moved to Texas with my mama for a while. I was still so angry with your father, so I figured that I would turn y'all against your him, not knowing that it would later come back to bite me in the ass," she said. By this time she was bawling her eyes out. I just sat there and took in everything she said. I didn't feel anything.
"Alexis, say something," my mama said still crying. I didn't realize that I had been sitting quietly for five minutes.
"How could you? Do you realize how much different our lives could've been had you not made that idiotic decision!? Due to your stupidity and immaturity, we have not had a father in our lives. You lied to us and that is something I don't know if I'll be able to forgive," I said running up to my room. Once I got there, I slammed my door and locked it. I got out my suitcase and called Bryce.
"Hello?" he answered.
"Bryce, I need to stay at your house for a little while. I'll explain when I get there," I said throwing clothes into my bag.
"Sure. You already know that you're welcome whenever," he said. "Is everything ok?"
"No. I'll explain when I get over there. I'll see you soon."
"Ok. See you when you get here. Love you."
"Love you too," I said and then hung up.
I finished packing my bag and took a shower. When I got out, I pulled my hair into a bun and put on sweat pants and a hoodie. I went through my shoes and got out a pair of oreo Nike roshe runs. I grabbed my bags and walked out my room. I moved quietly down the stairs and saw Dre sitting on the couch.
"I'm going to Bryce's. Call me if you need me," I said.
"Alright," he said blankly. I walked out the house and went to my car. I got in and drove to Bryce's house in silence. Once I got there, I got my stuff out the car and unlocked the front door.
"Hey, Alexis! How are you?" Bryce's mom asked.
"Hey, Ms. Andrea. I've been better."
"What's going on? Bryce told me that you were coming."
"My mom lied to me about my dad, and I just needed to get out the house for a while."
"Oh ok. Stay as long as you'd like, sweetie."
"Thanks." I walked upstairs to Bryce's room and opened his door. He was on his laptop and he looked up.
"Hey baby," he said getting up.
"Hey," I said walking over to hug him.
"What's wrong?" he asked looking down at me.
"My mama lied to me and Dre about my daddy and I can't take being under the same roof as her right now."
"Oh baby. I'm sorry. How did she lie?"
"She said that he left and married another woman when she actually put him out and didn't tell him about her being pregnant with me."
"Dang. Are you ok?"
"I just need time to think. I'm gonna lay down," I said sitting down on the bed.
"Alright. I'ma go get your bags," he said walking out. I took my hoodie and shoes off. I went into his drawer and pulled out a t-shirt. I stripped out of the rest of my clothes and put the shirt on.
"Damn. I swear you get finer by the minute," Brice said closing the door and licking his lips.
"I know," I said smirking. He laughed.
"Get some rest. You need it."
"Alright. I love you," I said kissing him.
"I love you too," he said. I got in bed and fell asleep almost instantly.
