Awkwardly hanging out with Drew became a common occurrence for me. He liked hanging out with Dean, so for the most part it was all three of us, but I liked to wander around at night. Dean grew accustomed to me waking up at three in the morning and walking around, sometimes he joined but, but Dean loves his sleep and I don't blame him. It's not like I can leave the ranch, so he knows I'm being protected. One particular night as I was wandering, I ran into Drew. It was a peculiar meeting.
"What are you doing out at this time love?"
"Walking."
"Oh, mind if I join you on your... morning stroll."
It'd been about three in the morning at the time.
So that lead to us walking together a lot.
As I stepped out of the house tonight, I wondered if Drew would should up again. I found myself enjoying his company, not romantically, but it was a breath of fresh air to have a friend besides Dean, Levi, or Diane. As quietly as possible I slipped out of the house, and just as the front door clicked shut, I heard a teasing, "Hello Love." Turning I saw Drew, casually leaning against the wall. "Why do you call me that again?" I asked, Drew grinned, his naturally wide smile showed off his fangs, vampires can't just retract them, but I was used to them by now.
"It's a term of endearment in my family." He said, I smiled at him, and we started walking. Talking about anything really. "Hey, can I ask why you always wear long sleeved shirts and jeans, it's really hot all the time here, it has to kill you." Drew asked, part of me wanted to snap at him but I knew he didn't know what happened. "I have a lot of scars." I responded, quickly wiping away a solitary tear. Drew sighed, "I know it's really personal but can I ask what happened?" Drew continued cautiously. Sighing, I crossed my arms. It's an involuntary action, like I'm trying to hold pieces of myself together. "Yeah, sure." My voice came out shakey, but I ignored it. Remembering was painful.
"Dean and I met because I was home alone, and I heard a loud thud outside of my house. When I opened the door, Dean was there in wolf form, but he shifted back, huge bullet wound," I chuckled at the memory. "That's around when Trent started stalking me, he discovered Dean and I had a connection, but at first he just inspected me, soon after things with him following me got more serious. Um Dean tried to give himself to Trent for him to stop, but then I got Levi to summon the pack, we got him back, and then we had a few weeks of peace, then Luna she tricked us both and gave me to Trent." I explained. Drew tensed up, "I never knew Luna was capable of something like that, I knew she wanted to be his mate but..." He trailed off. "At that point we were attached. If you're wondering how apparently I had wolf blood in my family blood line at that point." I added. "Trent, he tortured me, it took two weeks for Dean to get there, and then when they arrived, Trent dragged me to a room, forced me to do the blood ritual, I drank a goblet of wolf's blood, and then that sealed my fate. Recently he started stalking me again, so we fled here. He also killed Francis, or that's what we think." I explained.
Drew nodded solemnly. "It seems I've just been confined to two different houses for a while now." I sighed, looking up at the full moon. My blood wasn't boiling so I guess the whole myth where we shift on a full moon is fake. "Well love, why don't we sneak out then." He offered, I raised a brow at him, "Excuse me?" I asked, "I've done a lot of tracking, getting out for a half an hour can't do much damage." I shook my head, Drew grabbed me by the shoulders, surprising me. "I'll take care of you. I know Trent's smell." He urged, reluctantly, I sighed. "But we should tell Dean." I said, Drew rolled his eyes, "Come on, you know he won't agree." Drew complained. "Yeah, but the pack thinks Trent is their alpha. What if he's sending them to look instead of him because he knows he'll get spotted faster?" I challenged. Drew sighed.
We sat along a stream in the thick forest surrounding the houses. "You know what they look like right? Keep an eye out," I gave him an exasperated look. "I'm not well trained I don't think I would be good at keeping an eye out for anything." Drew leaned backwards on his hands and stared at the moon. "You are a werewolf that acts like a human." He commented.
"What?"
"Think about it, you're a werewolf, you have enhanced everything, yet what did you do? You trained yourself to act human, when learning the ways of fighting and tracking would benefit you more in the long run." Drew said, and I paused. Honestly, I'd never thought about that. "You're...right." Drew chuckled, "Don't sound so surprised love." He teased, I looked at him. "You're in denial of being a wolf, but you really need to start training yourself." He added on a more serious note. I nodded. Glancing up I saw the sun rising. "Gotta go before I get burned." Drew teased, vampires burning in the sunlight is also a myth. Jumping up, I dusted myself off. Drew got up, and before I walked off, he grabbed my forearm, making me turn. "I will find a way for you to get out of this place for a little while." At that he dissolved into the forest, and I walked back to the house.
Dean was up by the time I made it back, he inspected me. "Why do you smell like Drew?" His tone was suspicious, and I rolled my eyes. "Drew and I hangout when I go on walks." I answered, Dean could tell I wasn't lying but there was still that curiousity. "Then why don't you smell like him every morning when you get back?"
"I shower every morning, then blow dry my hair. It's just a routine I've adapted in to. There's nothing suspicious going on. I swear." I promised, grabbing some clothes.
After a long shower, I stepped out, and Dean was still laying down. "Dean," I said, he opened his eyes, and glanced over at me. "You need to start training me on how to fight."
