Wriothesly walked as he usually did. With his guard up. It was what he had to do. He was aware of his position, and he held it firmly. There were rules, boundaries, and lines he could not cross. In order to be the able leader he set out to be, there were certain things he had to uphold within himself. It required him to reach a level of mental and spiritual mastery. Those little human slip-ups that plagued most people he could not give in to. Not for a moment. Not for a second. Even the tiniest slip-up could lose his respect, deservedly, or lose his credit with those who followed him. If he started to slip, so would the prison.
Naturally, that meant defending himself against the clique trope that would fall upon most men in his position.
No flirting with the female inmates.
He was aware of his own attractiveness. And aware too of what would go through most females' heads when they saw him—especially when they saw him in his senior rank to them. So he knew exactly how to hold himself when he interacted with members of the opposite sex. Don't give them an in. Don't even entertain the idea in your own mind. Stay strong. You have more important things to worry about.
It wasn't that hard for him. Even in the outside world, he was never too interested in dating and that whole game of chasing tails. He was always focused on higher things. Maintaining the order of the world, doing what was right, and helping people in need. When he got the role at the prison he didn't even think about how it would affect his personal life. As far as he was concerned, none of that mattered.
Yes, his focus was always very much elsewhere. His ambition was enough to keep his heart lit.
And yet, even with all his ironclad defences, he still found himself caught off guard when he turned the corner and saw you standing there.
Many beautiful women had passed through the prison walls. Many of which most men would have jumped at the chance to be with, and would've if they were in his position. He never had a problem putting those women in the same category as everyone else.
But there was something about your beauty that glowed in the dim lights of the prison.
It was like someone had flicked on a switch. For the first time, he could see the layers of oppressive dark earth around him. The ocean all at once felt very very real, and very unforgiving. He found himself faced with the reality of a beauty that could only be born of the sun.
Yes. It felt very much like you had brought down the sun with you.
His grip tensed on his bicep.
It was alright. Your beauty had nothing to do with him.
Though, a part of him felt glad he had prepared this whole welcoming ceremony.
He continued walking toward you, the prearranged guard of Gardemeks following close behind him.
You looked scared. He realized having an army of bots descend on you was probably intimidating. Maybe he went a bit too far.
He offered you some words of comfort, but they did little to console you.
You stood tense, like a bird caught in a cage.
He wanted to say more to ease your mind, but it seemed the more he spoke, the more tense you got.
He found himself in an odd predicament. He was used to intimidating people, but it had never bothered him so much.
You finally relaxed a little when that inmate, Deakin ran back over.
"S-sir, how's the weather?" he muttered.
Actually, things just got a lot sunnier in here, he wanted to say. Of course, he didn't.
