(y/n)'s pov:

since the battle of the bands, the band had gained one new member, graduated high school, and gained quite a large following. steven willis was our new bassist. we had run into each other at a concert and started talking, with hunter present of course. steven eventually said he could play bass and had been in a few bands before. soon after we asked him if he would like to join the band. i had taken the position of one of the lead vocalist as i had missed months of practice with my previous broken arm. currently we were at another band rehearsal in hunter's basement.

"does anyone have any new song ideas?" steven asked everyone.

"i think i do, but it still needs some work," hunter adressed the group.

he started to play a soft melody and started singing.

"so close, no matter how farcouldn't be much more from the heart forever trusting who we areand nothing else matters never opened myself this way life is ours, we live it our wayall these words i don't just sayand nothing else matters

"so close, no matter how far
couldn't be much more from the heart
forever trusting who we are
and nothing else matters
never opened myself this way
life is ours, we live it our way
all these words i don't just say
and nothing else matters.."

he finished the song after about five minutes.

"that was great. it could definitely put us on the map," i excited. everyone followed saying their "greats", "wows" or "so good"

we all agreed to put in on our set list for this saturday. next, we started to talk about the songs, stage designs, and outfits for saturday's show. when the rehearsal finally came to an end,  everyone left except hunter and i.

"so what did you really think of the song? and don't lie to me either," he genuinely wondered.

"honestly, i loved it. it is nothing like you have written before," i complimented. his face gave a shocked look before coming to the realization that he could actually write good music. we soon got into hunter's bed and fell asleep in each others arms.

~time skip~

it was saturday. we were all ready to go out on stage in a shitty dive bar. hunter went on stage first, guitar in hand. i quickly followed with the set list in hand. i had previously put tape on the back, and now i slammed the paper onto the amp beside me. the rest of the band gradually moved on stage and adjusted their instruments to their liking.

"this is one of our new songs we call it nothing else matters." kevin did the 1,2,3 thing with his drums and the song started. when hunter sang, i would play guitar. when i would sing, hunter would play the guitar. once the song was over, a
crowd had formed in front of the stage wanting more. we all nodded at each other knowing what song to do next. i passed hunter his guitar back.

"hello everyone, my name is (y/n) nix. i would like to introduce you to the band a little. first is our wonderful guitarist/singer, hunter sylvester,"
i began followed by an array of claps.

"next is our chellist, emily spector," more claps.

"here is our bassist, steven willis," more claps.

"and finally, our drummer, kevin schlieb," the claps grew louder. "here is one of our songs i like to call rockstar," the audience went quiet waiting for the song to start.

"well, i went to school, oh" i say my voice sounding off

"well, i went to school, oh" i say my voice sounding off.

"well, i went to school, ha ha," i laughed regaining my voice back.

"well i went to school in olympia
everyone's the same
we look the same
we talk the same
yeah
don't you please
make me real, fuck you
make me sick, fuck you
make me real, fuck you
well i went to school in olympia
everyone's the same
and so are you in olympia
everyone's the same
we look the same
we talk the same, yeah
we even fuck the same..."

the song ended. the crowd got really loud. after hunter and i switched for a couple different songs and the show was over. the band headed backstage to pick up our gear, when we were met with two unfamiliar faces.

"hello, i'm charlie evans," an man a little older than us introduces himself and holds out his hand for us to shake.

"and i'm charlotte evans," a women around the same age introduces herself. "we saw the show you all put on out there and wanted to offer our services," she tells us.

"i am a world renowned manager and she is a record label executive. since we are married you would get the best of both worlds," he explains.

"i would really enjoy if your band would sign with my record label. and if you do, an album won't be the only positive. we are talking world tours, merchandise, and interviews," she tries to persuade us.

"yeah, i have one question," hunter interrupts.

"go ahead," they listen.

"when do we start?" he asks giving them their answer. they both give each other a fist bump before giving us their business cards and heading off holding hands.
