•I'm sorry but, don't wanna talk
I need a moment before I go, it's nothing personal
I draw the blinds, they don't need to see me cry

With painstaking slowness, he gently pulled apart the thick curtains, allowing the soft morning light to filter into the room. Despite the gentle illumination, he hissed and vigorously rubbed his eyes, which were red and puffy, evidence of the relentless tears he had shed throughout the night.
As he stepped across the polished white marble floor of the hospital room, his eyes were fixed on the pale form of his wife, lying motionless on the bed. The mid-December air was crisp and biting, and the clouds seemed to hang low in the sky, casting a sombre pallor over the day. Ordinarily, such wintry weather would have been picturesque and serene, but for the grieving husband, it all seemed cold and meaningless.
He felt his throat tighten and his chest grow heavy as he watched the sunrise, a reminder of the life that was still going on despite him being stuck and paused by his love. He attempted to swallow the lump that had formed in his throat, but no matter how hard he tried, it seemed to be stuck there.
He paused, closing his eyes and trying to shake off the heavens that weighed his heart. He knew that he needed to stay strong, to keep going, to be there for his wife..to not let her lose hope..to make her back to him. He opened his eyes and stepped closer to the bed. The tears that had flowed freely throughout the night had left their mark on his face, leaving his eyes red and swollen.
His wife, the love of his life, lay lifeless and pale. Her features were the same..but her skin was pale. He felt a sharp pang of pain as he gazed at the cannulas attached to her arms and nose, knowing that they were keeping her alive. He wanted to rip them out, to take away her pain, but he knew that he could not. He could only remain by her side, hoping and praying that she would regain her strength and recover soon.
He didn't hesitate for a moment, his eyes taking in the details of his wife's face. Her once vibrant eyes were now closed. His heart and eyes ached to see the sparkle they once held. Her delicate nose, adorned with a small gold nose ring, and her full cheeks, were all still the same but her skin was pale. She had grown a bit thin, her clothes loose on her frame, and the cardiac event monitor showed her heart beating erratic and weak.
Bending down, he softly placed his lips on her forehead, gently kissing the cold, pale skin as he savoured the fleeting contact. With reverence and longing, he explored the contours of her face, lingering on her eyes, nose, and cheeks. His fingertips tenderly caressed her skin, feeling her soft pale skin. He felt his throat tighten and his chest grow heavy as he held her close, wishing he could make her wake up just this instant.
