In darkness stars shine
Chapter four
Half drowned wombats, cookies, and kidnappers, oh my!
"Well look who's finally awake."
I role over with a groan.
Every bone in my body throbs.
My head feels as if been stabbed with a pitchfork forged in the depths of hell with the sole purpose of finding my head and causing me as much agony as possible.
And that's just my head.
Never mind my body, that feels like it was crushed with a steam roller one too many times, all while being boiled in a pit of lava, mixed with acid.
Aka, I'm not feeling to wonderful, but on the bright side; I'm alive. And that's always a welcome plus.On the not so bright side, some one had just spoken to me, and that someone's voice I did not recognize. And I'm not a huge fan of barely being able to move while in the room with a stranger. So, as one does, I open my eyes. Also as one does, I begin to panic.
My body is a wash of pain as I reel back clutching my head gasping in air as the searing pain pulsing throughout my body grows ten times worse.
I want to retreat back into darkness, to crawl back into whatever dark whole I had just come out of, but my eyes catch on a shift of a shadow in the corner of the room, and I can't seem to close my eyes.
I turn myself under my tangled mess of blankets to see who, what, it is.
Standing there, leaning against a door is a tall boy who appears around my age with carelessly tousled sunny blond hair and slightly tan skin completing the affect with quite the splatter of freckles. And his eyes, Almost like opals set into his skull changing with every flick of the light speckled with gold.
I turn my face to keep myself from staring.
"Am I that shocking?" He asks jokingly with a teasing sound behind his voice.
I know his voice.
Where had I heard that voice before?
Oh.
That's right.
Memory's of that feverish awakening squeeze there way into my head.
That voice was the soft one I had heard.
That moment feels more like a dream in my head rather than actual reality.
No, scratch that, a nightmare.
I can feel my breathing begin to get more heavy as I look around the room realizing have no stinking idea of where I am, or who this guy is, or what's really happening for that matter.
Oh gosh.
Don't panic don't panic don't panic.
I was panicking.
Heavy breaths plague my chest as I try to pull in to much air for my lungs to handle at once quickly beginning to hyperventilating myself.
"Wo, calm down there." The boy saids beginning to approach.
This makes me panic more.
"Snickerdoodle's." The boy mutters under his breath.
"How- who-"
He takes a step forward holding up his hands clearly to show that he wasn't a threat, but all I can do is stare at the dagger placed in a hilt strapped to the side of his leg.
He follows my gaze down to the hilt of the dagger, looking back up apologetically. "Sorry." He mutters giving me a lopsided smile. "I was meant to take that off."
I ignore his words far to focused on the fact that he has a dagger,
Why does he have a dagger? Why am I in a room full of medical equipment, barely able to move? where the heck am I?
All I can do is panic and stare.
Words don't want to form in my mouth as I take in the room around me. Cold, hard, and sterile. But very obviously not a hospital. It's far to quite. Not to mention there is a guy with a dagger in my room, and last time I checked that probably went against hospital protocol. But If I'm not in a hospital, where am? What were these people going to do with me? And Why had they taken me here?
