It was a dark rainy night as Carson walked through the empty Streets of LA. Normally it would be bustling with activity but for the last month that had been anything but possible. There was a serial killer on the loose and with 40 victims over the course of 6 years now with zero leads on the case, LA officials were finally taking this threat seriously. In addition, they had called for two of the best detectives to join the PD for the duration of the case which was the reason Carson was here.
Carson originally hailed from Texas, before he became a detective he was a Texas ranger. His time there would shape him into the detective he is now. He was one unorthodox man, who often didn't follow the book and used his own methods to solve a case which 90% of the time, ended in a solved case. Following a request from Miami PD, he transferred to Florida in an attempt to help clean the place up.
When he heard about this new cold case known as the Rainbow killer, he called the LAPD himself and offered to take it on. The Chief accepted and allowed his transfer and informed him he would be partnering with another detective who requested a transfer for that case as well. Standing at 6'2 with pale white skin, medium-length brown hair, toned muscles, and a naturally stoic face, he was quite intimidating and he hoped that it wouldn't cause issues like in the past.
The other detective whom he would be working alongside was a woman named Stella Bouviea. She hails from France where she was born and raised but later moved to the USA after France's drop in crime saw no need for new detectives. From there she worked in Chicago and was a by-the-books type of person. She had a strong sense of justice due to her traumatic childhood. Unlike Carson, she was hard-headed and used to spearheading her cases, and once she was set on doing something she would not back down.
Carson's walk continued for another mile before he came to a stop in front of the LAPD 9th district precinct. He entered the precinct wearing his usual top hat and trench coat. He walked up to the counter laid his Miami badge down and said " Detective Carson Michelin reporting as ordered by Chief Harris".The officer nodded and said, "he's already expected you, head on back". Carson nodded before picking up his badge and heading back to the chief's office.
He knocked on the door and the chief said"Come in" before Carson opened the door, walked in, and took a seat in front of Harris's desk. The chief extended his arm and said "Welcome aboard sir... here's your badge and your sidearm". Carson took them with a smile before saying" I will take this case off your hands, sir". Harris smiled and said," I know you will, your record precedes you".
Carson smiled and prepared to leave before the chief said"One last matter; we've arranged a secure safe house for you to conduct the investigation; you and your partner will live there. Speaking of your partner; her name is Stella Bouviea and-". Before Harris could speak Carson said" I know all about her, parents are Philippine natives, they moved to France before having her, she's 32, black-haired, hard-headed unmarried, has two sisters, and has a high moral compass. She has solved numerous near-impossible cases, making a name for herself as well while always adhering to the rules".
Harris looked at him with a surprised expression before saying"Well Since you already know her...here". The Chief tossed Carson a car key and said "You have your own vehicle and she has her own, you each will share a workspace and access to evidence and at the end of every week you will report your progress as required by the big wigs".
Carson nodded and said, "is there anything else sir?" He snapped his fingers and said, "Oh yes I almost forgot...here". He gave Carson a card and Said"It's a company card, use it to refill your car and buy food. There's a 2,000 dollar limit and we will track the transactions so keep that in mind".The chief looked at him and said"Watch your backs out there...when you open the files there's no turning back".
Carson nodded and said, "I understand sir...but I'm still in and I'm still going to pursue this until I die or it's solved". The chief saluted to him and said"I'll see you next Friday with evidence...anything you need you requisition it through the secure laptops at your home and I'll personally fulfill it once the plan for its use is submitted". Carson nodded yet again before walking over to the door and leaving the Chief's office".
He took the elevator to the underground garage and hit the alarm button. The alarm led him to a silver 4 door sedan. Based on Carson's observation it had police mods but was meant to not draw attention. He unlocked the door and pushed the seat back since he was quite tall, before getting in the car. He left the garage and followed his escorts to the home which was surprisingly not that far away. When he arrived the escorts left and he parked his car and got out.
