The following day is rather uneventful. Phoenix insists that I stay in bed, even though I feel a million times better. He sets up at the desk in the bedroom, telling me that he's going to stay home with me. Fiona brings me breakfast soon after I wake up.

"You look so much better today, Lia," she says as she sets the tray with a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast on the bed next to me. "But Phoenix is right to have you stay in and rest today."

I see Phoenix turn to give her an approving look and I roll my eyes. "I'm fine, Fiona. I really don't need to stay in here all day."

She just shakes her head and stands, wiping her hands on her pants. "Nope, you have to stay here. I was only allowed to skip my duties because you're home, so..." She trails off, giving me a knowing look.

I flip my attitude and give a fake cough. "Oh, Fiona, you're right!" I cough again, sniffling dramatically. "You must stay home to care for me!"

"All right, all right," Phoenix says, closing his laptop and turning to look at us. "I get it. Maybe we'll go down for lunch." Fiona beams and grabs my hand, but Phoenix clucks at her. "But then Dahlia has to come right back up to rest. Doctor's orders."

Fiona and I roll our eyes at each other and she nods. "Works for me, I guess." She turns to me and gives me a tight hug. "I'll see you at lunch, okay? We'll make something delicious."

I return the hug with vigor, relishing in the love I'm still not accustomed to. Fiona kisses my cheeks dramatically and then leaves the room. Phoenix smiles and shakes his head before returning his attention to his work.

It's quiet while I eat and Phoenix works. I don't have much of an appetite, despite being asleep for three days, but I still try. My thoughts continue to drift back to everything that has occurred this week. A thought suddenly hits me and I clear my throat.

"Phoenix?"

He pauses in his typing and looks at me. "Yes, my love?"

I clear my throat again, putting my fork down on the tray. "Where is my brother? Erland?"

Phoenix takes a deep breath and tilts his head. I hear a crack in his neck and then he turns completely in his chair to look at me. "Erland is currently being held at a separate location on the territory until we get everything straightened out with Aurora." His words are measured, as if he'd rehearsed them.

"A separate location?" I ask, my voice skeptical. "You mean the prison."

He sighs and shakes his head. "No, not the prison. Just a safe house a few miles away. I let visit you in the infirmary once a day while you were there, but he has to stay at the safe house now that you're awake."

I nod my head slowly, reeling at the information. "When will he be allowed to leave?"

Phoenix turns back to his laptop and begins typing again. "I don't know yet."

The document open on the screen looks familiar and I squint trying to make it out. "Are you having another meeting with Alpha Julian?" The agenda looks similar to ones I had seen my father work on before a big pack meeting.

He pauses in his typing, but doesn't turn around again. I set my breakfast to the side and stand, walking over to his desk. He has stopped in the middle of an agenda item, so I read what I can see.
