This chapter is definitely longer than I had intended... Originally, I was going to do this chapter and the next one as one chapter together, but by the time I was halfway through this chapter and realized I wouldn't be able to do both, I just kinda went with it... I hope it's not too bad, though! Any feedback would be appreciated!
Later that afternoon, after Naruto had finished telling them some more of his stories, Minato and Kushina were called to speak with the Hokage. They had apologized to Naruto for having to leave him, but he said it was fine since it's Granny Tsunade calling them. But they decided they could all eat supper together after. Naruto was excited. By Naruto's request, they decided on Ichiraku's. They arranged to meet there later.
"I told you I would contact you once I know more about the jutsu that brought you two back to life." Tsunade started once they were in her office with the door closed behind them so people passing by were less likely to hear. This information wasn't something that should be shared with just anyone.
"To start, you two have been genuinely brought back to life. So until something happens to kill you again, you will be able to live like normal humans." She started. The couple was excited to hear that news. They were glad they wouldn't have to leave Naruto again.
Tsunade then decided to start telling them some of the details she learned from the book she'd read, and the small bits of information she could find in a couple other books that mentioned the Migawari clan's special jutsu. "It seems Kaya was able to use a lost jutsu. It was a kekkei genkai belonging to the ancient Migawari clan that was mostly destroyed a few hundred years ago. The kekkei genkai has been slowly erased from the descendants of the clan." She explained.
"Essentially, the jutsu is able to revive both the body and the soul of someone who has died to a point before they passed in order to cure them of their cause of death, with some exceptions. Of course, since the jutsu upsets the balance between life and death, the user has to pay for it." She continued. "You can read this if you want more details." She handed Minato the book before continuing.
"I believe that Kaya unknowingly used this jutsu to revive the two of you. Her symptoms and the situation align with what the book described, and considering her family history," she said as she showed the couple the scroll she'd obtained with Kaya's family tree, pointing specifically to where her Migawari ancestors were. "It seems very likely this is what happened." Tsunade finished her previous statement.
"But if the jutsu was erased from the clan's bloodline, how could she have used it?" Minato asked, confused.
"It would be possible to reawaken the kekkei genkai with human experimentation." She said. When she saw that the two were confused, she sighed. "Eight years ago, Kaya was kidnapped by Orochimaru to be used as one of his human experiments. It's likely that he found out about her connection to the Migawari clan and decided to try to reawaken the jutsu." Tsunade explained. "She just returned to Konoha a week ago." She added. The couple was shocked and upset to hear about it.
"What about her parents? Are they still here?" Kushina asked, part of her not wanting to know the answer since she knew there was a chance it wouldn't be good. Tsunade shook her head.
"Her parents were killed the same night she went missing. That's part of the reason Kaya was assumed dead when no one could find her." She answered. It was quiet for a moment.
Tsunade sighed again before she changed the subject, this time to a much lighter one. "Anyway, that's not the only reason I called you two here. Now that we know that your revival isn't temporary, we'll have to find somewhere for you to live." She said. "Until we can find you a new house, you'll have to find somewhere to stay temporarily." She added.
