August's POV
day one

The day had finally arrived—our much-anticipated trip to the cabin. As I woke up that morning, the excitement and nervousness churned inside me like a storm. My brother, who lived in the school dorms, had already left for his classes, and my parents were away on a business tour, leaving me with the freedom to do anything I wanted.

I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions as I prepared for the day ahead. The memory of the unsettling phone call was still fresh in my mind, but the thought of spending time with Ethan in the serene wilderness helped ease my fears. He had promised that the cabin was safe, and I chose to trust him.

Before heading out, I spent some time getting ready. I wanted to look my best for the trip, even though Ethan had teased that it wasn't a romantic escapade. Still, a part of me wanted to impress him, to show him that I could be more than just the girl he teased and flirted with.

As I finished packing my bag with the essentials, my phone buzzed with a text from Ethan, making my heart skip a beat. "On my way. Can't wait to see you," the message read. A smile crept across my face as I typed back a reply, "Likewise. Get here soon!"

With the car loaded up and ready to go, I impatiently waited for Ethan's arrival. Every passing minute felt like an eternity, but when he finally pulled up in front of my house, all the waiting was worth it. He stepped out of the car, looking handsome as ever, and I couldn't help but feel a rush of excitement.

"Hey, beautiful," he greeted me with a charming grin, and my cheeks flushed with a mixture of delight and embarrassment.

"Hi, yourself," I replied, trying to maintain a casual demeanor.

As I climbed into the car beside Ethan, the excitement of our adventure ahead was palpable. The sun had just begun to rise, painting the sky with a breathtaking palette of pinks and oranges. The soft hues danced on the horizon, reflecting off Ethan's face, making him even more irresistible. The scenery around us was a picturesque display of nature's beauty, and it was the perfect backdrop for what I hoped would be a memorable trip.

"So, are you ready for a week of nature and wilderness with me?" Ethan asked, a mischievous glint in his eyes.

I raised an eyebrow playfully. "I suppose I can tolerate your company for a week," I teased, my heart fluttering at the thought of spending so much time alone with him.

He chuckled, a low, velvety sound that sent shivers down my spine. "Tolerate? Ouch, that hurts," he mocked, placing a hand dramatically over his heart.

I laughed, feeling a mix of butterflies and excitement. "You know I'm just teasing," I said, reaching over to playfully poke his arm.

He smiled, a warm affection evident in his gaze. "I know," he replied, his voice softening. "And I wouldn't want to spend this week with anyone else but you."

His words stirred something deep within me, and I found myself blushing at the sincerity behind them. I looked out the window, trying to hide my reaction, but Ethan seemed to sense my emotions all too well.

Reaching over, he gently brushed his fingers against my cheek, turning my face to meet his gaze. "You're beautiful when you blush, you know that?" he said, his voice low and intimate.

My heart skipped a beat, and I felt a rush of warmth spreading through me. "You're not so bad yourself," I teased, trying to regain my composure.

Ethan smirked, leaning in closer. "I'll take that as a compliment," he whispered, his lips hovering just inches from mine.

The car ride became a game of flirtatious banter, our words filled with teasing remarks and mock insults, all while the chemistry between us grew stronger with every passing moment.
