taylor's pov
i walked out of the changing room with lacey to take her to my car, she was following a few steps behind me but then caught up and grabbed my hand as we were walking through a crowd.
i looked down at her "you alright?" i asked, not expecting her to grab my hand. "yeah, there's just a lot of people sorry" she replied in a mumble and dropped my hand. "no no it's okay" i said with a smile and grabbed her hand again. she smiled in response.
we got into the back of the car and she sat close to me, almost like she was afraid she'd lose me. i saw her staring at me from the corner of my eye so turned to her, she looked scared and anxious. "hey what's wrong?" i asked with a frown and squeezed her hand.
"im scared" she replied and i could hear the fear in her voice. "of what?" i asked her. lacey gave a look as if she was debating if she should tell me or not. "what if ashley and michael find out? i'm afraid of what they'll do to me" she said with a shaky voice.
"are those your foster parents?" she just nodded her head. "dont worry darling, im gonna keep you safe" i said while side hugging her. she wrapped her arm around my stomach and didn't let go until we arrived at my house, so i just held her the whole way home.
when the car came to a stop and lacey didn't move, i looked down at her to find her sleeping "lacey, wake up. we're here" i whispered and gently shook her arm.
she woke up suddenly with a gasp and fast breathing, i could tell she had a bad dream from the scared expression on her face. "it's alright, it was just a dream" i comforted her while she calmed down.
i lead her into the house and waved my driver off. we took our shoes off and then i lead her to sit on the couch with me.
lacey's pov
i sat down on the couch next to taylor and tried to check my phone but realised it was dead. "sorry, can i use a charger my phones dead" i asked taylor and she handed me one.
taylor was about to start talking but when my phone turned back on she saw all the messages from michael and ashley, she audibly gasped at the awful messages.
sthere were so many messages, some of them like; "you are such a disgusting child you should have died with your mother" "where are you, you worthless piece of shit?" "when you get back your punishment will be 100 times worse"
"oh my god" she said as she was reading them. "okay, let's not look at those" she continued when she saw the tears welling in my eyes and took my phone, setting it down on the coffee table infront of us.
"do you have your social workers number or someone? so people don't think you're missing" taylor asked me, probably wanting to change the subject before i started crying again.
but i wasn't really listening, i was just thinking about what michael and ashley had said to me. i've heard all those things so many times from them that i'd just started to believe them at this point.
"hey are you listening? are you okay?" taylor asked while waving a hand in front of my eyes to get my attention. "yeah sorry, what were you saying?" i replied while snapping out of my thoughts.
"okay so, as i was saying, i need your social worker's number so we can sort this out" taylor said. "oh uh yeah sure" i replied and grabbed my phone from where it was on the coffee table, opening my contacts and showing her julie's number.
"okay ill sort all this out after i show you your room and everything" she said and stood up, taking me upstairs.
"this is where your room will be right now, mine is just next door so if you need anything come in" taylor said while opening the door to a big guest room with really expensive looking stuff in it. "woah it looks amazing" i said, shocked, while looking at her with a wide smile.
