the clock ticked slowly in the claustrophobic room i was held hostage in. there were barred windows, a scratched metal table, and two beaten-up iron chairs. the cold atmosphere kept me awake, with the feeling of dread and sorrow clouding my thoughts.
the buzzer beeped, as the heavily armed door beside me swung open. revealing the two officers from before. ruth came and sat infront of me, whilst thatcher lingered behind her and never once took his eyes off me.
"y/n, dear." weaver cleared her throat, "i hope you've had enough rest. me and the liutenant are here to ask you some questions, then you are free to leave." i nodded in response, my head drooped from all the stress forming in my mind.
"why did you tell us no, when we tried to arrest the criminal?" ruth began, slipping out a small file and opening it up. she flipped it over, and placed it carefully in my hands.
intruder, glumly staring back at me, was a photograph stapled into the file.
"h-he's not a criminal." my voice was hoarse with tension, "he's not a bad person, he means alot to me- a-and i wouldn't know what to d-"
thatcher slammed his hands onto the metal table, causing me to flinch back in my seat and grip the file tighter than ever.
"were you with him?" he asked me, "when i called you to come, you blatantly ignored me, kid." his montone voice reached a new low, filled with malice and antagonism.
"y-yes, liutenant." i mumbled.
"kid, we've been tracking him for ages. this guy is really dangerous - who knows what he could have done to you?" thatchers eyebrows raised once he noticed my facial expression.
"h-he's not dangerous. i love him, and he means the world to me. i learned more about him then you guys ever will, and if that means defying mandela county's laws - then so be it." i stood up from my chair, sliding the file into thatcher.
"you can't keep me prisoner here, i'm leaving." i spat, pulling the heavy door and slamming it shut behind me. i then raced down the stairs, back towards the main entrance.
i was greeted with the presence of rain, as i solemnly walked back home. the droplets slashed at my clothes, causing me to become colder by the second.

once i reached home, i put on some warm clothes and went into my kitchen to make my favourite hot drink. i blasted the news to help cover the odd silence that haunted my home.
i sat down onto my couch, drinking my hot beverage whilst zoning out. i thought about intruder, his facial features, his voice, the way he addressed me..
removing me suddenly from my train of thoughts, a picture popped up on the screen. as i blinked, it was the same man i had seen before.
the same man, intruder talked to when he first broke-in my house. i sat up, waving at the man - hoping he'd recognise me.
his faint smile turned into a bigger one, a glimmer of hope shone through his eyes. "h-hey, im um- the person intruder stayed at their house for a bit.." i trailed off thinking of what to say next.
"intruder.. has been arrested. i miss him, i need your help - because you need him too! right?" i found my words, as the smart-looking man gave a tiny nod and disappeared into pixels.
a black screen emerged, as i saw my own grief-stricken reflection stare back at me.
