he flashed a wink at me, covering his face with the newspaper as ruth tapped my shoulder and waved her hand infront of my eyes, "hello? earth to y/n?" she called out. "sorry!" i apologised, standing awkwardly before realising i was meant to order.

once we gave our orders, me and ruth sat on the opposite side to intruder. i felt his dark eyes burning into my face, staring me down. ruth sensed i was feeling uneasy, putting her hand on my shoulder.

"it must feel hard.." she said, "feeling uncomfortable in your home after what's happened." i slowly nodded my head, taking a sip of the drink ruth bought me. "i'm okay, thank-you for taking me here ruth." i lied.

she nodded, opening her mouth to say something, yet was cut-off by her ringtone blaring in her pocket. ruth winced, taking the phone out and answering the call. she mouthed, "i'm sorry" before getting up and making her way outside.

i saw her pace up and down the buildings perimeter outside the glass windows, taking my opportunity, i locked eyes with intruder. he smirked, noticing that i recognised him. i got up from my seat, walking over to him and pulling a chair out for myself.

he held the newspaper up, covering both our faces from the rest of the cafè. "what are you doing here?" i internally wanted to slap his face, as he chuckled slightly and didn't say a word. "honestly, what are you planning to do intruder? how long are you going to keep being a wanted criminal?"

he looked down, finding his words. i could tell he looked tired, his eyebags seemingly more darker from the last time we met. he didn't bother to take care of himself, his messy hair poking through his black hood. "are you okay?" i finally asked, holding his hand in mine.

"i'm tired." sadness filled his eyes, "i want to just have a normal life, y/n." he sighed, rubbing my hand with his thumb. "then have a normal life, you can come stay with me, can't you?" i said, dropping my gaze down to our interlocked hands.

before he could say anything, ruth burst through the glass doors and looked at our table. her eyebrows scrunched, seeing the two drinks we both had left on the table. a sad expression plastered on her face, as she turned back around and left through the double doors.

i held my breath, waiting for her to turn just out of my sight from the glass windows. my heart sank, feeling hopeless after seeing ruth upset over me leaving. although, she didn't see me with the newspaper that covered my face.

intruder leaned in, dropping the newspaper onto the table. his eyes burned into mine. staring at me, a small smile crept onto his lips as he leaned in and kissed me. i slowly pulled his hood off, tangling my fingers into his fluffed hair.
