Chapter 17: Farewell Rosalyn

"Signora is dead."

The room stays dead silent, The Jester's words echoing. His voice does not let past any emotions, yet, the tone he employed is rather imposing. 

In the room, none dares looking at The Jester. Some are looking down at their hands or table and some are simply looking right in front of them to a certain point on the wall. You are part of these people.

Four years after you have joined the Fatui, The Tsaritsa's plan to take the Archons' gnoses has been put in place. As planned, Signora successfully retrieved the Anemo Archon's gnosis. A month later, she gained the Geo Archon's gnosis after he accepted a contract with the Cryo Archon. You are not sure in what consisted this contract but you do not really care. Less than a year after, Signora arrived in Inazuma and walked to her grave. Scaramouche was the one who took the gnosis.

And just as predicted from The Jester, Scaramouche fled away without a trace. Arlecchino sent some of her soldiers to find Intel about his location; she had no return for the moment. 

You look around the table. The First has convoked all of the Harbingers with their assistants and right arms to announce the news and talk about how things should go. Your eyes mainly land on the Harbingers: Pantalone, Columbina and Dottore were smiling; Sandrone did not leave her emotionless expression while Arlecchino was showing a straight face. Childe seemed more annoyed by this meeting and it might be the same for Capitano. Pulcinella only fakes a slightly saddened expression.

Concerning the assistants and right arms, most of them look down or are trying to keep a neutral face. Signora's assistant seems rather nervous while her right arm tries to keep his head up. Dottore's new assistant, Taro, is looking at the papers in front of him. Since the first time you have seen him, you knew he was weak. You believe he will not last long since some of Dottore's segments already threatened him quite a couple of times.

You're not sure if it is because of the work provided by this guy or if they still didn't accept the fact you have been promoted as right arm, meaning you are spending less time with them in the lab. You believe it’s mainly the second options. Of course, Taro would certainly not surpass your genius and absolutely perfect work, but he’s not doing too badly either. You would say his work is... Acceptable.

"The Fair Lady has been murdered by none other than the Electro Archon. Her sacrifice shall not bother our progress in the gnoses hunt."

You look up at the tall man, not really caring about his words. 

"The date of her funeral will be communicated shortly; I do not wish spending too much time on this stuff when we have many things to solve."

"Every person who was working under her will be sent to one of you all. Only one group was sent to Mondstadt, they will be tasked to stay there for the meantime. They cannot be assured to keep a position as valuable as they used to have," Pierro turns toward Signora's assistant and right arm, "so there is a chance you will be placed in a lower position." 

You could imagine the right arm gulping as the assistant looks away. You don't care about them, but you have heard that the right arm always did a great job, meaning he should be able to keep a high rank. Concerning the assistant, they will probably get a lower position. You haven't heard anything specific from them so they will probably go back to an agent position.
