POV: Reader
You walked into the lab, where you knew Nick would be working, going over all the evidence from your crime scene.
"Nick, can I borrow your car?" You ask coming to stand next to him, at the evidences table.
"Catherine still not back with your car yet?" Nick asks as he took off his latex gloves, throwing them into a nearby bin, before reaching into his pocket to get his car keys out for you.
"No, she isn't," you answer, taking Nick's keys from him.
"Why do you need my car?" Nick asked me with an arched eyebrow.
"Got to meet two FBI agents back at the crime scene, it turns out that our killer is a serial killer, I have found other victims in both L.A and New York, it is now a race against time, before our killer moves onto another city," you explained to Nick.
"I will do my best to get everything done before the FBI get here," Nick tells you, putting on another pair of latex gloves.
"Am meeting two agents at the crime scene, as far as am aware the rest of their team are coming straight here," you tell him, with a slight smile.
"Then I best get back to work, you may want to text Catherine, let her know what's going on," Nick said.
"Why? We are no longer together," you said feeling a little annoyed at Nick, that he still thinks you should still be checking in with Catherine.
"I didn't mean it like that, I just mean that Catherine thinks your off today, so she isn't in a rush to give you, your car back, since you might not need it today," Nick explained holding up his hands.
"If I didn't know any better, I'd think you were nervous about me driving your car," you say with a little chuckle, as you leave the lab.
It doesn't take you long to get back to the crime scene, unfortunately the FBI wasn't there yet! You do a double check of the crime scene, though your sure you haven't missed anything, after ten minutes, you decided to get a coffee from the café that was next to the crime scene, while you wait for the FBI.
You sit at one of the tables near the window so you would be able to see when the FBI would arrive, you call Catherine to see how long she was going to be with your car.
"Hi y/n," Catherine answers the phone after two rings, sounding a little frustrated.
"Are you alright?" You ask her, you hate how much you still care about her; however you knew that was never going to change.
"Long day, plus it is extremely hot here with no air conditioning," Catherine complains.
"Sorry you're having a rough day," you meant it.
"You know what will make me feel better?" Catherine asked you.
"I got an idea, however, why don't you tell me," you says drinking some of your coffee.
"Seeing you tonight after my shift, we could order food and talk, I miss you," Catherine tells you; she was making this harder on you and herself, she wasn't willing to accept that your marriage was over.
"Catherine,,," you begin to say however she cuts you off.
"Just think about it before saying no," Catherine asked you, sounding very emotional.
"I need to go, I just wanted to see how much longer you were going to be," you asked avoiding her question.
"Hopefully not much longer, I will call you when we are back at the lab," Catherine tells you, without another word you hang up the phone, feeling overcome with your emotions, you sat back into the chair, trying to relax and compose yourself again before the FBI arrives.
Just as you look out of the window you noticed a black SUV pulling up with two women inside, you wait for them to get out of the car, yes, they are definitely FBI, you think, drinking a mouthful of coffee, you get up, making your way out of the diner and over to the two women.
"Agent Jareau?" You ask the blonde woman.
"Yes, am Agent Jennifer Jareau, this is Agent Emily Prentiss," Agent Jareau tells you; you introduce yourself while shaking they hands, you take them around the crime scene, explaining in great detail what you had found and how the body had been found.
"The killer made no attempt to hide the body, we haven't found her right hand yet! And I doubt we will, as I believe none of the other victim's hands were recovered, I doubt trying to hide her identity wasn't the goal as the killer let her keep the left hand, unfortunately that doesn't help us as she had no I.D on her, so for the moment she is a Jane doe," you explained to them.
"Any missing person reports?" Agent Prentiss asked you.
"Not yet, we are hoping that someone will file a missing person report as we have determined the time of death to be around 1am this morning," you informed them.
"It hasn't been 24 hours yet," Agent Jareau added.
"We believe this is the dumpsite and not where she was killed, due to the lack of blood," you said referring to your notes.
"What about CCTV?," Agent Prentiss asked you.
"There is a street camera up there," you pointed across the street to a streetlight, "Captain Brass is trying to get the footage for us, hopefully he will have it by the time we get back," you inform them, you think of something, "have you had any luck finding out what the symbol cut into our victims forehead means?" You asked them, since your research has come up with nothing. Then again you had barely started your research before finding out there were other murders.
"Our technical analyst Garcia is working on it," Agent Prentiss tells you. "I would like to talk with the witness," Agent Prentiss added after a pause.
To Be Continued.
So sorry I haven't updated this in forever.
