Reader's PoV:

You and Emily decided to take your car, since you know Vegas, you heard of a new restaurant that had just recently opened about two months ago, which made it perfect as it is one of the few places that you and Cathrine hadn't gone together, which would make it easier for you to just enjoy your night, without memories of you and Cathrine popping into your head.

As you enter the restaurant you were glad you called ahead at seeing how busy the restaurant was, you take a-hold of Emily's hand as not to lose her as you follow the young waitress to your table, after you take your seats, she handed you the wine menus, you thank her, before watching the young waitress walk away leaving you alone with Emily.

"Should we just order a bottle of the house white, or do you prefer red?" Emily asks you, as she closed her menu and placed it on the table next to her.

"House white sounds good," you said with a smile also placing your menu down.

"This is nice," Emily says looking around the restaurant.

"Yes, it opened about two months ago, I'd heard the food is amazing," you tell Emily feeling a little nervous, you were not sure why as it wasn't a date it was just drinks and dinner with a co-worker, just then the waitress came back over.

"What can I get you ladies?" She asked with a pen and notepad in hand.

"Bottle of your house white please," Emily says handing her back our menus and taking the food menus, the two of you take a moment to read over the menu, you decide on the chicken salad.

"Have you decided what you want?" you ask Emily as the waitress came back with a bottle of wine, opening it, she poured the wine into two glasses, you order the chicken Salad while Emily ordered the salmon, while you waited for your food, you enjoyed the wine while sharing stories of your time in law-enforcement, you tell Emily how you loved science and biology in school, that was why you became a forensic scientist and a crime scene investigator.

Emily told you that she didn't want to follow in her mother's footsteps and joined the FBI in hopes to one day putting down some roots and despite what others think she had done it on her own and wasn't handed the job due to her mother's position and influence.

"So come on, I'm dying to know about you and Catherine, you did promise to tell me, if I had drinks with you," Emily says taking a sip of her wine.

"I did, didn't I?" You say with a chuckle, "and Look I also threw in dinner as well," you said and as if on cue your phone started ringing, you pull it out, looking at caller I.D before rolling your eyes at seeing Catherine's name, you decline the call, you put your phone on silents before putting it back into your pocket.

"You're not going to answer that?" Emily asks you.

"It's Cath so no, I won't let her ruin our evening," You explain to Emily as the waitress comes over with your food, placing Emily's plate in-front of her, before placing yours down in-front of you, "Thank you," you said giving her a warm smile.

"If you don't want to tell me about you and Catherine it's fine, I understand, it can be hard when a marriage comes to an end," Emily says sympathetically.

"Have you ever been married?" you ask her, taking a bite out of your chicken as you feel your phone starting to vibrate in your pocket, you knew you had to answer it or Catherine would just keep calling, "excuse me, if I don't answer she won't stop," you said taking out your phone, looking at caller I.D again you see it was indeed Catherine calling you again, "What?" You answer in a very sharp tone of voice.

"It's agent Morgan, Catherine asked me to call you, she was shot, we are at the hospital now," Agent Morgan informs you.

"Oh god," you said feeling the blood draining from your face, "is she alive?" You asked barely able to get the words out, "What hospital did they take her too?" You asked him after he reassured you that Catherine was alive, looking at Emily who now had a look of concern on her face, "I know the hospital, we will be there as soon as we can," you say hanging up, your heart was in your throat.

Emily was already up out of her seat, she threw some money on the table, you down the rest of your wine, before also throwing some money on the table, putting on your jacket and leaving the restaurant, getting in your car, you made your way towards the hospital.

"What happened?" Emily asks when you are in the car.

"Cath's been shot," you managed to get out, your voice full of emotions, "God I hope she is alright, because I don't want to tell Lindsey that Cathrine isn't coming home," you said thinking of your daughter.

"Lindsey?" Emily asked from beside you.

"Our daughter," you answer as you grip the steering wheel more tighter turning your knuckles white.

"What happened? I thought they were just going to the diner to try and see if our suspect had stopped there," Emily asks trying to get her head around it all.

"I have no idea, agent Morgan just told me that Cath had been shot, God I am going to kill the son of a bitch who shot my Cath, when I get my hands on him or her," you said as you felt yourself getting angry.

"You still love her," Emily said sadly.

"Of course I do, she is my wife," you said as though it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Then despite whatever happen between the two of you, you should give her another chance, if your able to forgive her and move forward, not many people are given a second chance, so you should take it," Emily says reaching for your hand that still had a death grip on the steering wheel, she placed her hand on top of yours, giving you a gentle smile.
