A week had gone by since you gave Simon your number. You haven't heard from him digitally, and he didn't seem to bring it up in conversation. You were okay with that, though. You saw yourself more than a coworker to him now. You considered him your friend, and you were positive he thought the same of you. You didn't want to push his boundaries. If he wanted to stay more professional, that was his decision. You didn't want to cross any lines he had set for himself. You understood.

Simon, however, had been staring at the contact he made with you for days now. He would open his phone, stare at the blank text message screen as he tried to find something to text you. He wanted to say something, but he felt that a simple 'hello' wasn't enough for some reason. He wanted to come up with some sort of clever message, something that would make your eyes light up with a smile when you saw it because you would know it's him.

But, he couldn't think of anything. So, he put it off until now.

You felt your phone buzz a couple times. You took it off your nightstand as you laid in bed, double tapping the screen to look at the notification.

"I suppose it's passed your office hours, isn't it?" the text read.

You couldn't hold back the huge smile that spread across your face. You tapped on the notification to open up your texts. "How very unprofessional of you, Dr. Petrikov!"

Simon snickered, his cheeks warming up as he read your message over and over again in his head.

"You know me. I'm the most unprofessional person."

You texted back and forth with Simon for about an hour before you stopped getting a response. You assumed that he had fallen asleep, so you plugged up your phone before closing your eyes to sleep yourself.

Simon, was in fact, asleep. His face was shoved down into his pillow as he let out a loud snore. You made him feel so comfortable, so safe, that he managed to go to bed without even thinking about it.

That was definitely new.

Work felt pretty much the same for the next few days. You would teach an early class before breaking for lunch with Simon, discussing random things going on in your life or debating whether dragons ever existed or not.

Somehow, today was different for you. Simon wasn't acting like his normal self when you went into his office to greet him in the early morning. His hair was a mess, his glasses sat sideways on his face and the dark circles under his eyes were more prominent than usual. When he heard you come in, his eyes darted up to you before he got up, closing the door behind you frantically. He closed the blinds, quickly returning to his seat.

"Simon, are you okay? You're—"

"Dr. (L/n), I think I've just made the discovery of a lifetime."

You slowly sat down, looking at him with a suspicious expression, "What?"

"Just listen. I can explain, but save your questions for the end." He took a deep breath.

"I think I may have just proved the multiverse theory."

You blinked, your gaze staying locked on him, "Wh—"

"Ah, ah! Let me explain." He adjusted his glasses, his eyes averting around the room as if he was trying to see if anyone else was eavesdropping.

"I've been through multiple dimensions, many. I've talked about that with you. My experience in alternate universes is very advanced at this point."

"You haven't said anything to me about that—" you mumbled before he cut you off.
