(Just got over a bad case of COVID, but now I can actually write without my head wanting to explode! Sorry for the unexpected delay!)
When your eyes fluttered open to your window, your heart fluttered with joy at the sight of snow covering the ground outside. The streets had been slightly plowed, but the pavement was dusted with snow. You guessed the snow had been pretty nonstop since the moment it began to sprinkle to the ground.
You got the opportunity to work from home for the day! Driving wasn't going to be very safe in the current weather, so you got dressed into some warm, comfy clothes and sat down at your desk which was conveniently in your room. While you were waiting for your computer to power on, you heard your phone ring its familiar notification tone. You gently picked it up, and looked at a notification from Simon. All it displayed was an emoji with a frown, with the word "yuck" placed before it. You knew he was most likely talking about the weather.
You chuckled to yourself, texting him back, "It'll be okay."
Around lunch time, you received a selfie of Simon with his lunch. He had a frown on his face, a sad expression catching your attention with a caption below it. "Lunch doesn't feel the same without you."
You read the message over and over, listening to it in your head. You couldn't help but almost hear him saying it to you out loud. It made you feel queasy and hot, a blush sneaking its way onto your face. You had to set your phone down for a second just to gather your thoughts. You felt a wave of embarrassment wash over you, as if someone could see how incredibly flustered you were in the moment. All you could picture was Simon's smile, the way his glasses sat crooked on his face when he didn't notice. His soft hair, his eyes, it made you want to throw up from the way he made you feel. Your feelings for him were still uncertain, but one thing was for sure— he made your heart flutter in ways it hadn't for years.
You picked your phone back up, placing a small heart reaction on the image he sent you. You clicked out a few words, sending the message back to him.
"I'm sure we will see each other at work tomorrow."

Simon spent the rest of the snow day answering emails, jotting down miscellaneous notes in his journal, and sulking about the weather outside. He had closed all of his window curtains to prevent the horrible image of the icy weather from coming through. His mood was quite the opposite from yours. His eyes flickered to his clock, sighing as he turned off his computer.
"6 pm already?" He asked himself. He was partly expecting you to chime in and say something witty, but of course, you weren't there.
You would've been there if you two actually went to work. That's the part that killed him.
Simon stood up and walked to his kitchen. He grabbed the handle of the fridge, tearing it open quickly to grab a beer before slamming it closed. He couldn't bare to feel the way the cold air made his skin crawl. It made him want to tear his flesh off his bones.
He popped the can open, sipping on it before he grabbed a bowl of cereal for himself. He sat down on the couch and checked his phone. A smile quickly spread on his face when he saw a notification from you.
"What are you having for dinner tonight? I'm thinking of making waffles and bacon. Idk, I'm craving it."
Simon's smile quickly dropped as he shifted his gaze from his phone to the bowl of cereal in his lap. His meal wasn't as great as what you were planning to have. He didn't want to lie, there was no point.
