Hermione stays a Cat

Chapter 1- I'm a cat

Harry and Ron had come back, trying to coax me out of the bathroom. Myrtle had a laugh at my expense but had since dived into a toilet.

Someone's stomach grumbled. I couldn't get over how loud it was. I sobbed. I was a freak. My parents always said I was and this proved it. More than the scars and scratches I had over my body. At least the fur hid it for the time being. My tail swished and I was craving some milk.

"Ron, if you're that hungry go. I need to talk to Hermione about the History of Magic homework," Harry said.

"If you're sure Harry, felt sure it was Malfoy," Ron walked off.

"Hermione please open the door. Surely it's...bloody hell," Harry said as he saw me.

"It was cat hair. Honestly I..I," I started sobbing.

Harry wrapped his arms around me and I flinched, I had never been hugged before.

He wrapped the invisibility cloak over us. He always carried it, bless him.

"Hermione, we'll speak to Madam Pomfrey," Harry said.

As we got to the hospital wing, Harry explained what had happened. Madam Pomfrey ran tests and immediately got a result. She came in immediately with Professor Mcgonagal and Dumbledore.

Professor Snape followed a look of sympathy on his face.

"Well do you want the good news or the bad news, Miss Granger?" Madam Pomfrey asked.

"Bad first, Harry could you stay?" I asked.

Harry nodded.

"Well the effect is permanent, there's nothing I can do. The good news is you are still a witch. You just have the features of a cat," Madam Pomfrey said.

"Mr Potter, what were you thinking of?" Professor Mcgonagal suddenly asked.

"People kept getting petrified, I was always nearby. I wanted to prove I wasn't the heir of Slytherin, but then," Harry trailed off.

"Harry, it's OK, they probably no I brewed it," I said.

"Well fifty points for sticking by Miss Granger, Mister Potter," Professor Dumbledore smiled.

He then turned away, just as Professor Snape turned to us.

"Bad news Miss Granger but your parents don't want you like this, so and I quote they called you a freaky waste of space. They also tried to hit me with a belt," Professor Snape said.

I sobbed, Harry looked stunned.

"Hermione, why didn't you say?" He asked.

"I couldn't, I.." I burst into tears.

Harry hugged me again.

"Sir, could you please ask Uncle Vernon and Aunt Petunia, if Hermione can stay with me?" Harry asked.

Professor Dumbledore nodded.

Dumbledore's Pov

I was stood on the doorstep of number 4 Privet Drive and I rung the doorbell. As it was opened I cast the disillusionment charm of myself. All three Dursleys didn't flinch.

"Albus, is Harry alright?" Petunia Dursley asked.

"Yes, Harry is fine. However I wanted to ask you a favour?" I said.

"What is it, we can't give you money," Vernon said drinking his Brandy.

"No, do you or have you met Hermione Granger?" I asked.

"Yes, bushy haired, really skinny. When I spoke to her, her mum slapped her," Petunia said in shock.

"She looks like she's been beaten," Dudley said. He was mature for his age.

"Well, her parents have thrown her out, because she was involved in a potion incident gone wrong," I sighed.

"Polyjuice, Lily pretended to be me once, I was most put out," Petunia laughed.

"Yes, however, this batch turned her into a cat. Not a literal cat. A cat with human features," I said.

Vernon spat out his Brandy.

"So a human cat?" Dudley asked.

"Yes, Harry wanted to know if she could stay with you. However they'd probably have to share a bed, they're cuddling now. Poor girl has never had a cuddle," I said.

Petunia burst into tears.

"Of course, I'll allow it, but Harry pays for her food. I'm struggling at work," Vernon sighed.

I nodded and thanking them I left

Hermione pov

I awoke to find Harry smiling.

"The Dursleys okayed it Hermione, you can stay with me. I'll just have to buy your food," Harry said.

"You sure Harry?" I asked.

I tried scratching my ear, but it hurt so Harry did it for Me and I started purring.

"Yes," he said.

"Harry James Potter, I love you," I said.

"I love you too, Hermione," Harry smiled back.
