I held her legs down on the counter top, as my Mum maneuvered around the room trying to jump down and rush into my arms or even run away.
She was hysterical as I explained to my Mum what I thought had happened, I think she was more embarrassed then hurt. Her feelings masked over her pain, her eye had blood rushing all out of it.
"Do you think she needs a squishy thing or something?" My Mum spoke, rushing over to us with a few different things in her hand. "Can you move your hands sweetheart?" She tried to pull the away but she tugged them, hiccupping from constant flow of tears.
"Iola." I was being firm with her now, she wasn't letting us help her and there would be serious consequences for that if she didn't allow us to help.
"Elijah, she's upset." I nodded, rubbing her legs relaxingly whilst my Mum treated the blood coming from her eye.
She looked more closely noticing something, her eyes widened and she got a close look at whatever was causing her pain. "Daddy." She leaned out at me, with her hands stretched out to me.
"I know Lola, just stay still then we can have cuddles okay?" She didn't seem to understand trying harder and harder to get off the counter. "I think I've found the issue."
"What is it?" I asked peppering Lola's face as she began crying once more, "There's a slightly large cut under her eye, it's nothing to serious but it's causing a lot of bleeding."
She whispered, not wanting to scare her anymore. Wise, I should use that.
"I can put a patch on it and some cream. I should be all good, if anything else talk to the professionals. My worst injure with you boys was a grazed knee."
I was particularly messy and always scratched up, but nothing to the extreme. Axel was the one to stub his toe and all the other clumsy things.
"Can I hold her now you've looked at it?" She nodded turning around, pulling a box out from the many shelfs and scavenging for something.
"Daddy, 'old me."
I held her, propping her on my hip. "Soph's going to fix it okay?"
"Hurts, my eye." She pouted, her eyes still glossy and her face a tad bit cleaner then before from the anesthetic my Mum whipped one it.
I used Soph, the nickname for her.
Not sure why, but her idea was that it rolls of the tongue nicely.
"I bet it does, I have a little cute eye patch for you." Mum came back, holding two black patches along with a few stickers.
She handed me the both, "Son, put these on her. One for now, and then you can decorate the other. They both have a cotton pad it them because the cut is basically on her eye so it should help."
I nodded thanking her, before taking Iola to my room holding the pieces she gave me in my hand. "You have a patch now, you excited to be my little Pirate." Her pout began a frown and she lightly chuckled, "Eye bleed, blind."
"You're not blind, baby." I set her down on the bed putting Fai in her arms, "Whose that?"
She hugged Fai, giving me confirmation she kind of knew who that was. "Lets put this on then, Lo."
..
"On the patch." I guided her hand to put the Hello Kitty sticker in the centre of the patch so it would be surrounded by the hearts around it.
She clapped, smiling at me as that was the final piece of the puzzle. The mission to make her eye patch more, her.
It had a pink, red, blue, green, yellow heart. Basically every colour in the rainbow, "Let's change it, do you wanna do it." She shook her head holding Fai closer and squeezing her other eye shut as to brace for impact.
