Lady Robin
"We are also going to need to change your outfit." John protested.
We were still walking on our way to the castle when John broke the news to me. He was right. To look like a lady, I was going to need to wear a dress. Yuck! At least I wouldn't have to travel anymore, and I really could enjoy being in a dress without it being such a hindrance.
"So where am I supposed to get a dress?" I asked as I accidentally intentionally let a branch go that may have, possibly, almost hit him in the face.
"I know you did that on purpose!" He squealed. I may have enjoyed it a little.
"Well, where?" I asked as we trudged through the thick growth. The earth looked permanently green with a touch of brown that reached the sky (which we couldn't see due to the green canopies).
"We can find a dress shop in the city." He suggested. "Sometimes they have dresses for the nobility."
"How would we pay for it?" I scoffed.
"Well, I am a knight and I'm sure I could make an account and have Reginald pay for it." He said still walking along the crowded forest floor.
We made our way closer to the city with all of our hoods up except for John he didn't really need to hide anyway.
It was strange to walk into a town and not need to use the girls powers or to get hurt. It was also strange because I felt rather safe being with John.
I hadn't known what it was like to feel safe in so long. I obviously wasn't completely at ease especially considering how we met John in the first place. But I definitely felt better with him here.
I smile as we make our way down the cobblestone streets that are swarming with busy people. People buying and shopping at the many, many stores lining the streets.
We find one meant for the nobility and they let John right in even though he is technically a rank below, being a knight and all. But they stop Serina and I from coming in.
"This is for nobles and you, my lady, are not one." The large man guarding the door sniffs at us as if we were dirty. Serina being a water witch was never dirty, ever and I may have used her to give me a shower of water so I could bathe in what was basically rain.
John stepped out once he realized the problem just in time too considering I had quite a few things I needed to say to this man.
"They are both needed." He says firmly to the horrible guard.
The guard takes one good look at us and scoffs but lets us in anyway. Because we are clearly commoners, they make sure we stay far in the back of the shop so as not to confuse all the people shopping. They might think they can just walk in and buy a normally priced dress when in reality it will take their homes, spouses, and children to pay off a cheap dress on one of these racks.
I go looking for something that will make me really stand out but John shows me to a navy gown.
"I don't know if it is showy enough. If it will make me stand out enough." I said practically as I felt the fabric. It wasn't as glossy or soft as some of the others but it did seem more like a dress for me. It seemed more practical for everyday use then for impressing a king.
Serina glided over to us and said "But it would look good with this." She held out in her arms a beautiful, gorgeous gold hooded cloak. I immediately fell in love with it. I always wore a hooded cloak for survival, but I loved it. But I knew I shouldn't.
"No, no, this is all wrong." I said looking at both item pieces. "Cloaks are supposed to be practical and dark, like the dress but the dress is supposed to be shiny and showy like the cloak."
