Chapter One: The Proclamation

Prince Ben stared out a window to his left facing the isle of the lost, as he was being fitted for the new suit for his coronation, much to the seamster's dismay. "Head." the man ordered moving the soon-to-be King's head to be sized before his parents walked in, King Adam and Queen Belle. "How is it possible that you're gonna be crowned King next month? You're just a baby." Adam declared "He's turning sixteen, dear." Belle argued Ben smiled at his parents as they continued. "Sixteen? That's far too young to be crowned King. I didn't make a good decision until I was forty-two." Adam countered and Belle scoffed "Uh. You decided to marry me at twenty-eight." "Ah, it was either you or the teapot." Adam waved her off and Ben chuckled "Kidding." "Mom, Dad..." Ben started but as he tried to take a step the seamster stopped him "Ah! Mm-hmm." he muttered

"I've chosen my first royal proclamation." Ben announced "I've decided the children on the Isle of the Lost should be given a chance to live here, in Auradon." The three adults gasped and Belle dropped the fabric she was holding. "Everytime I look out to the island, I feel like they've been abandoned." Ben explained coming up to his parents "The children of our sworn enemies? Living among us?" Adam questioned "We start out with a few at first, only the ones who need our help the most. I've already chosen them." Ben told them "Have you?" Adam asked "I gave you a second chance." Belle countered, holding her husband's arm "Who are there parents?" "Cruella De Vil, Jafar, Evil Queen, Hades,.. and Maleficent."

The seamster screeched in horror as he dropped his sketchpad when Adam lectured "Maleficent! She is the worst villain in the land!" "Dad, just hear me out here..." Ben tried to reason "I won't hear of it. They are guilty of unspeakable crimes." Adam continued "Dad, their children are innocent. Don't you think they deserve a shot at a normal life? Dad?" Adam gave a thoughtful look at his wife before nodding "I suppose the children are innocent." He then walked to the edge of the room as Belle fixed her son's suit and said "Well... Well done." before following her husband "Shall we?" Ben then reapproached the window and looked back at the Isle.
