Chapter Nine: Saying Goodbye

"Children!" Fairy Godmother said excitedly as she came up to them after setting up the TV "Excuse me, um... As you know Sunday is Family Day here at Auradon Prep and your parents can't be here due to uh, distance. So I've set up a special treat." she walked up to the computer and pressed a button as the five students came up behind her. "I don't see anything, nor do I hear." Maleficent said as she stared strait at the screen her head blocking out the other four parents "Is it... Is it... Is..." "Press enter." Jafar told the Mistress of Evil "Can I please see the remote?!" she yelled at EQ and got the remote for the computer and asked "Is this thing on? Gah, it's broken. Ugh! I hate electronic..." and the TV turned on showing the VKs and Fairy Godmother, don't forget Dude the dog in Carlos' arms. "Evie, it's mommy." Evil Queen said delighted at the sight of her daughter "Oh, look how beautifull. But you know what they say, the poison apple doesn't fall far from the tree." "You mean weeds." Hades scoffed "Hadley, how are you." "Daddy," Hadley smiled waving at her father "Oh, who's the old bat?" Cruella asked pointing to Godmother "This is Fairy Godmother." Mal introduced "Still doing tricks with egglants?" Maleficent asked "I turned a pumpkin into a beautifull carriage." FG insisted the other villians snorted a laugh as Maleficent continued "You really couldn't give Cinderella till 1:00 a.m.? I mean really. What, the hamsters have to be back on there little weels?" "They where mice!" Fairy Godmother said annoyed-ley "They where not... They where mice. They where not..." "Thank you, so much. Thank you." Mal said as Fairy Godmother moved out of the frame but not before saying "They where mice!"

"Hey mom." Mal greeted her mother "Mal!" Maleficent yelled "I-i mi... mi... miss you..." she stammered "You children are never far from our thoughts." Jafar told them "I've got it." Maleficent told him before turning back to the youngens "How long must Mommy wait to see you?" "Um, there's a big coranation coming up, I think probably sometime after that." Mal explained "When?" Maleficent needed to know "Friday, 10:00 a.m." Mal told them the time of the coranation "You sure I can't see you before that?" Maleficent asked but what she meant was 'You sure I can't see the wand before that?' "I don't know what I'll do if I can't get my hands on that magic... You! You little nugget that I love so much." they repeated 'love so much' until Mal interupted "Yes I compleatly understand, Mother." then Cruella came into full view and asked her son "Carlos, is that a dog? Yes, yes, baby. I do understand." she said talking to the stuffed animal and squeezing it "It would make the perfect size for earmuffs." Dude whimpered at the comment as Hadley gasped and Carlos held Dude closer to him and walked up to his mother "He's the perfect size for a pet." Cruella gasped "This dog loves me and I love him. And FYI, your dog is stuffed! So give it a rest!" "Oh..." Cruella said and Jafar laughed "Burn." he nodded at the woman who waved him off "Ugh! Why don't you go sell a toaster you two-bit salesman!" They continued yelling until Jay hit the end call button and the five sighed "I'm so sorry." Fairy Godmother whispered "Thanks for trying." Jay said "Of course." she nodded as Mal lead them out of the room.

"M?" Hadley started before Evie asked the question as they got to the doorway of the room "What do you think our parents are gonna do to us if we don't pull this off?" "I think they will be quietly disappointed in is, but mostly proud that we did our best." Mal told them "Really?" Carlos asked "No I think we are definitely goners." "Yeah." Evie sighed as they left the classrooms.

That night the five had a little meeting in the boy's dorm "So, we'll be up on the dais under the Beast's speel jar, and we'll be coming in from here. I will be in the very front and you all will be on the balcony." Mal told them as they looked over everything they had gathered "Okay," Hadley nodded along barely getting any of it "Carlos?" Mal asked "Okay, so I'll find our limo, so we can break the barrier and uh, get back on the island with the wand." "Perfect." Mal nodded at Carlos' discretion his part of the plan "Evie?" she asked "Yeah?" she said on reflex "You will use this to take out the driver." Mal handed Evie a perfume bottle and explained how it worked as she put it in her bag "Two sprays and he will be out like a light." they stayed quiet for a moment before Mal added "And, Hadley. If something goes wrong use the ember to drain them and get us in the clear... You still have the ember, right." Hadley chuckled and pulled out a shiney blue rock tossing it in the air then catching it again "Course. Never go anywhere without it." "Great," Mal sighed as Carlos and Jay moved away, Evie and Hadley where going to do the same thing but Evie noticed Mal's spellbook and stopped the girl before saying "M? You're gonna break Ben's love spell?" "She's gonna what?" Hadley asked looking over Mal and the book. "Yeah," Mal nodded "You know, for after. I've just been thinking that, y'know when the villians do invade Auradon and start wreaking havoc, and kick everyone out of their castle's and imprisoning their leaders and destroy all that is good and beautiful... Ben still being in love with me just seems a little extra," she paused as all her friends stared at her from every side "cruel." she finished. "Yeah." Evie mouthed before Mal slammed her book closed and left the room "M?" Hadley called after her.

The sun was down, it was past curfew, and everyone should be asleep. But they weren't. Jay got out of bed and went over to his desk and looked at the tourney trophy and jersey. Carlos turned over in bed and pet the whimpering Dude as he laid next to him. In the girls dorm Evie pulled out her Chemistry test and sighed. As Hadley looked at the wrinkled paper with a picture of her on it and the note on the back. Lastly, Mal was in the kitchen making a choclate treat to break Ben's love spell while she sang "A million thoughts in my head. Should I let my heart keep listening? I know it's time to say goodbye. So hard to let go!" she started crying into the badder adding the final ingrediant.
