fourty-six
"Welcome to real or fake!" I was standing behind the camera, my arms crossed over my chest. In front of me was the familiar studio which look just like a living room. Everyone was sitting on the couch, besides Simon, who was standing in front of the TV. I was still smiling from the last few minutes.
Harry and I arrived a little later than we had planned, due to an unexpected, let's call it distraction.
The moment we walked into the studio, I was met by a group of eyes and surprised faces. Tobi was the first one running up to me, pulling me into a hug. The rest followed quickly after him, everyone stumbling over their words. It was funny, I had to admit. No one had expected me to walk in this room, especially not with Harry by my side. Not even I thought I'd ever see this room from the inside again.
JJ was the first to ask about what was going on, as blunt as he always did. "What the fuck?" He said with a nervous laugh. He was righ, what the fuck. How did Harry and I end up in the same room, walking in together, without shouting at each other. "Mate, what happened? Why aren't you in New Zealand?" Ethan patted Harry's back before sending me a quick glance and unsure smile. "Well, I tried but, I-I got stopped by someone." Harry looked at me, his eyes soft and all I could do was try making my heartbeat slow down. "So, you two again?" I shrugged. "I-I guess so?" Looking at Harry, he nodded before wrapping his hand around mine. "Well, this isn't awkward at all." Vik cleared his throat after saying what all of us were thinking.
"Can we, how about we-we just ignore this and get to the shooting?" Harry asked, clearly not wanting to talk about the current situation. Well, neither of us did. So everyone was happy when a confused John walked up to us. "Do I want to know?" We all stayed quiet for a little before laughing and shaking our heads. "Let's get you guys in front of the camera, alright?" I wrapped my arms around Simon's and Vik's shoulders, walking up to the set. "I'm glad you're back, Joan." Simon smiled, sitting down whilst I staid up. "So am I, Minter." He grinned whilst Vik sat down next to him. "You're missed around here." I quickly glanced around the studio and nodded. "I miss it too." JJ clapped into his hands, throwing himself on the sofa. "We have some catching up to do after this." He nodded his head behind me, where seconds later Harry appeared.
Feeling his hand on my lower back, I smiled. "We sure do." Harry's stubbles touched my cheek before he placed a small kiss on it. "Well, have fun." I gave them a last smile before walking behind the camera and up to John, who gave me a quick nod. "Good to have you back, Joan." I grinned. "Good to be back."
"Welcome to real or fake!" Simon clapped into his hands, getting my attention. "We all know how this game works." Ethan groaned, nodding. "You show us a picture, we tell you if it's real or fake." Simon nodded. "That sure is a point deduction!" Josh shouted, making me giggle a little. "Right, one point off team.." Harry moved forward. "The whites!" Everyone was shooked at his answer. "No, what, man." JJ shook his head. "We're the blacks then. Race war!" I already knew, this video was going to bang.
The shoot came to an end, and I realised that the next picture would be the last one on the slide show. "Alright, this is worth 10 points. The scores seventeen to twenty-five. All or nothing." Everyone was on the edge of their seats, if 'the whites' got this answer right, they'd win. "Ready? Real or fake?" Their reactions were louder than words and the second I looked at the screen, I knew why.
It was the picture of Harry and I back in switzerland for the ski trip. It was the one of us on the snow filled football field. My heart started beating faster. "Well, this should be easy." Ethan shouted happily whilst everyone was looking at Harry. It was obvious that the picture was real, but knowing that we had lied about it before, I didn't actually know if Harry would tell the truth. But in the end, even if he didn't, the people would find out.
"Well, I- fuck, uh, yeah, yeah, I should- I should know this." Harry stumbled over his words, quickly sending me a look but looking at the camera seconds later, then back at the screen. "Yeah, well, I guess the picture's already out there, isn't it?" He chuckled nervously, scratching the back of his head. "Oh, he's nervous." JJ laughed loudly, making the rest chuckle along. "What's the picture, Harry?" Simon asked teasingly. "Uh, that's me, that's me and my ex, my uh my girlfriend, no, well, that's me and Joan, Joan DuMaire." I could feel the heat rising in my face. "Who?" JJ was the next one, teasing. "Oh fuck off, mate. You know who." Everyone laughed, whilst Harry was still nervous. "Well, yeah, it's-it's real." He quickly said under his breath. "Do we even have to check?" Vik asked, making Harry and I shift a little. "The whites win!"
I watched them prep for the second shoot of the day before Harry walked up to me with a small smile. "Sorry about that." I shrugged, nudging him a little. "Don't worry about it." We staid quiet for a little. "Ex uh, girlfriend, uh, Joan." I mimicked him, making both of us laugh. "Yeah, well, I don't know what you are." He was right, we haven't really talked about everything since the airport last night. "Guys? We're ready for the second video." Harry and I looked at Simon, who was still holding the tablet.
"You should."
"I should."
We both stopped, laughing a little. "I will go and get you some food. We can talk tonight, ok?" Harry nodded. "Thank you." He took my hand, placing a kiss on its back before walking back to the set. "Hey, you want anything to eat?" I whispered to the crew after taking a few steps towards them. "Yeah, sure, thanks." John smiled, before his attention was brought back to the men on set. I smiled before leaving the studio. In the background I could hear Simon announcing the new video, explaining the rules. I shut the door behind me, closing my eyes a little to take a depe breath.
