"It was the best sex I've ever had!" Nicki exclaimed as I chuckled at her, sat on our half broken couch flicking through the TV programs.
"I'm telling you Elle, he really knew how to use this fingers and his ton-"
"Okay! I'm going to interrupt you there." Dylan walks into the lounge shaking his head at Nicki. He looked almost as hungover as me."Hung?" I asked, laughing at his misfortune.
"Quit the laughing Elle. I feel like death. Please take me to the greasiest fast food outlet in London before I hunch over and die," he begged.
Debating whether I should agree or whether I'd rather watch his misery, I realise I'm in desperate need of food too.
Walking into a busy diner, Nicki gasps and grabs mine and Dylan's arm, brining us to a halt.
"Fuck! Guys, fuck!" she panics, whispering.
"What?" Dylan and I say in unison.
"It's the guy I slept with last night, look," she points towards the line of people. As I look towards the direction she pointed in, I feel uneasy when I see Matty stood there, along with two other guys. The idea of Matty and Nicki sleeping together does not sit well with me. I don't know Matty, but I can't help but feel panicked at the thought of him and Nicki.
"Which one did you sleep with?" I warily ask, not sure I want to know the answer.
"The tall blonde one! I think his name's George. I don't know! I was so drunk," she quickly explains. Relief washes through me. I don't know why I'm feeling this way. I assure myself I'm not interested in Matty. I don't even know him.
We walk towards the counter, Dylan making a fuss about wanting everything on the menu. Dylan's outbursts causes the other customers around to look over in our direction, including Matty. His eyes immediately find mine, one side of his lips curling upwards. I feel slightly insecure as his eyes rake up and down my body. I look an absolute wreck.
"Well, look who it is," the tall blonde man, stood next to Matty says, walking towards Nicki.
"Uh, hi...." Nicki awkwardly chuckles.
"I had a lot of fun last night," he smirked at her. It seems he's forgotten we're also stood here. Dylan awkwardly clears his throat.
"Shit, sorry. Hey, I'm George. This is Matty and Ross," George introduces them, pointing in Matty's and the other man's direction.
"Hey mate, I'm Dylan. Well you already know Nicki... this is Elle." I inwardly groan as he says my name, causing Matty to smirk.
"Nice to see you again Elle," he continues to smirk.
"I wish I could say likewise," I roll my eyes.
"You two know each other?" Nicki asks.
"No," I say just as Matty says, "yes."
Nicki laughs while Dylan stands there staring Matty down. I give him an odd look as he shakes his stare off coming back to focus, shooting me a smile.
"Right... anyways. Would you care to join us for breakfast?" George asks, mainly towards Nicki.
She smiled, "yeah we'd love to. Right guys?" she looks expectantly at Dylan and I.
"Right," we both mumble.
After ordering, the six of us walk towards a large table, Matty quickly taking the seat next to me. Throughout the whole meal I feel his eyes on me, as I sit there staring at my food. Dylan and Ross are laughing and chatting like they've been friends for years, George and Nicki are staring at each other like they can't wait to rip each other's clothes off, and Matty and I are sitting in silence. At least I thought it was silence until he speaks up, "can I ask you something?"
"You just did." I retaliate without thinking.
"Funny. Why do you hate me?" he asks quietly. I immediately feel guilty. I always do this. I always lead people into thinking I'm awful. The way I act now is just a defence mechanism. I can't let myself fall for someone again. It hurts too much. I don't hate Matty, far from it actually, and that scares me. I can't let him get to me.
"I'm sorry Matty," I quietly say, "I don't hate you. I'm just a little closed off." I awkwardly explain.
"I want to get to know you," he states, almost nervously.
"I don't think that's a good idea..."
"I do. I think it's a great idea. Otherwise I wouldn't ask," he smiles cheekily.I have an inner debate with myself. I know it's a bad idea, but I can't ignore the fact I feel drawn to him. Ever since Jesse, I haven't felt connected to another guy. Matty is a whole other story. I can't seem to stop myself as the words slip from my mouth.
"Fine. Yeah okay. You can get to know me," I say.
"Really? Wonderful. Come for a drink with me tonight?"
"Fine," I answer hesitantly.
"What's your address? I'll pick you up at 8-"
"No. No picking me up, this isn't a date. I'll meet you at the bar," I reply quickly.
"Okay, okay," he laughs, "no date. You're a difficult one."
"Elle! Ready to go?" Dylan asks, as I look over to see him and Nicki waiting for me.
"Yeah, coming," I stand and put my coat on, as Matty stands too.
"See you tonight Elle. Can't wait," he smiles at me, with a mischievous look in his beautiful eyes.
"I promise you'll regret this. I'm quite boring."
"I'll be the judge of that. Bye gorgeous." I roll my eyes at his attempt at complimenting me and walk towards Dyl and Nic. What have I gotten myself into?
