Five years ago, demons decided they were tired of the mundane life of torturing condemn souls. They wanted to live on Earth where you could whatever you wanted. Sure, there was a lot of push back from humans, saying that demons belong in Hell and had no rights on Earth.

Demons simply shrugged their shoulders and let their powers and size do all the talking. Very soon, it was determined to let the demons live among humans to keep the peace. Oddly enough, demons settle into productive lives in society. Soon, many became pillars in the communities. With a demon, you knew what you were getting for there was no reason to lie or sugar coat anything.

Present day...

Kelli was trimming the overgrown hedges that her husband said he would do a dozen times. He was still working on his book while she was trying to tame the yard on her weekend off. A moving truck with a dark SUV rolled up to the recently sold house next to hers. Kelli smiled for she was happy to see the house finally have life in it again.

She looked down at herself and frown. She was filthy from all the yardwork. Her natural ginger hair pulled in a messy bun under her sunhat. Her large blue flannel shirt was smeared with dirt and leaves snuck to it. Her old tan cargo pants were caked with mud. Kelli was in no way fit to meet their new neighbors.

Dashing inside through the mudroom, she removed her yard boots, sunhat, and flannel. She threw her dirty clothes in the washer and bounced up the stairs to her husband's office in just her sensible underwear and plain white bra.

"Allen. The new neighbors are moving in." She said, walking into the room.

"Great." He said, glancing behind him. "Are you going to greet them like that?" He eyed her. Unfortunately, not in a sexy way. Kelli had gain weight while they tried fertility treatments to have a baby. She was curvier and thicker than before. Allen like smaller framed women like she was once. Nine months off the shots, she was still struggled to get the weight off. She could not see the results she wanted.

"No, I am going to jump in the shower. I want to give them the apple pie and the mud pie I made earlier." Kelli said, slapping his arm softly. She tried to show that she was not hurt by his words.

"Good, better at someone else's house than here." Allen said, looking back at his computer screen. She left the office before the tears could fall from her honey brown eyes. She got herself in the shower and got clean up. She felt a bit better as she dressed in a nice blue dress shirt and a pair of loose floral pants. Slipping on her flats, she was out the door. Allen did not want to go with her.

With the pies in a reusable bag as another gift with a can of whipped topping, Kelli made her way to the house. The movers were leaving as she strolled up. The front door was opened but she still knocked.

"Hello. I'm Kelli and I wanted to welcome you to the neighborhood." She called out into the house. Heavy steps echoed through the house as someone very large approach. Kelli's eyes grew wide as her new neighbor came to the door.

He filled the doorway with the height and the width of his body. Dead pale skin with close crew cut black hair and a close shaved bread. His eyes were light yellow with black rings. His blood red lipped mouth smiled, showing sharp teeth and long canines. He was wearing a black shirt, tight across his large muscular torso with a pair on black jeans. He held out one of his clawed hands that was attached to a well-built arm, larger than Kelli's thigh.

"Hi, I am Decarabio. Just call me Dark." He spoke softly, not the scare the sweet neighbor who bought a bag of goodies that he could smell.

"Nice, nice to meet you, Dark." Kelli said, finding her voice. Usually, the demons live in the cities for they like the energy it held. She had never seen any in the quiet suburbs. She took his hand, surprised to find it warm, not cold like she expected for some reason. "I wanted to give you a sweet treat to start your new chapter of life." She held out the bag.

"Thank you. This is very kind of you. Please, come in and meet my brother." Dark moved aside to let her in.

"Oh, okay." Kelli said, stepping inside. Dark left the door opened so she would not feel uncomfortable.

"Balthazar, get off the phone and meet our new neighbor, Kelli." Dark said as they entered the kitchen. There was a pile of boxes labeled pans, pot, and kitchen shit stack up in the corner. Standing at large kitchen island, a slight shorter and more lean built demon stood talking on a cell phone. He was completely different from Dark with his pitch-black skin, white marks on his face and elongated ears to point a bit pass the top of his head. He was wearing a white dress shirt with black slacks.

Kelli placed the bag on the island and looked about. It was a very nice kitchen with French doors to the backyard and a lot of natural light. There was a new six burner stove with two ovens. A smart fridge in stainless steel like the rest of the appliances. The cabinets were dark wood, nearly black with warm cream tones in the counter tops and walls.

"Sorry, work. Hello, I'm Balthazar, the younger, more handsome of the brothers." He held out his hand. She took his hand and instead of shaking, Balthazar bought it to his lips to kiss. She giggled.

"Stop flirting. She is married." Dark told to his brother, punching at his arm. Balthazar rolled his extremely pale blue eyes. He pulled the bag to him and smell the fresh baked apple pie and the delicious mud pie.

"I hope you like the pies. If you need anything, I am the blue house, right next door." Kelli explained. She could not stay long for Allen and her had made dinner plans.

"After we get everything in place, stop by for coffee, tea, or the blood of your enemies." Dark tried to insert some demon humor. Balthazar cut his eyes at his older brother.

"I will bring their skulls." Kelli joked warmly, making the brothers laugh. Having her for a neighbor was going to be fun.
