Steven Universe: Chipped [Pearl x OC]

Chapter 1-6: Serious Steven

Three weeks ago, Steven met this human girl named Connie. They discovered he could create protective bubbles like Rose could, and he poofed another corrupted gem. Two weeks ago, we tried the new teacup ride at Funland. Steven got motion-sick and jumped out, destroying the ride and earning himself a life-time ban from all Funland rides. Today however, Steven's coming on another adventure with us.

As we float through the warp stream, Garnet says, "Pay attention, Steven. This is going to be your first serious mission. You need to be ready."

Steven, floating upside down, excitedly says, "Yes! I'm ready. I'm so ready!"

Pearl says, "Steven, come on, you're gonna make yourself sick."

I turn him upright, and his ukulele hits Pearl in the eye.

I ask, "Why did you bring that?"

Steven responds, "I don't know. I was excited, and i- it's mine, and I like it!"

His ukulele starts floating away up the warp stream, and Steven swims after it.

Pearl exclaims, "Steven, get back here! You could get seriously hurt!"

As she finishes her sentence, the warp stream disappears, landing us safely in the Gem Battlefield, a field of giant strawberries. Steven warps several feet into the air and several yards away from the warp pad. He falls into a giant strawberry patch, groaning in pain.

I ask, "Steven, you okay?"

He gets up, saying, "I- I'm fine! I'm good. I'm just gooey."

He gets up, covered in strawberry juice, and starts licking his arm. A swarm of butterflies surround him, clinging to his face and arms.

He yells, "AAAH! AAHH! They're in my eyes!"

He runs around frantically, and trips over in front of Garnet.

She picks him up and swats the butterflies away, saying, "They're just butterflies, Steven."

He gets up and laughs sheepishly, saying, "Well, they looked a lot bigger when they were on my eyeballs."

Amethyst laughs, saying, "Steven, you're a riot!"

Pearl turns to Garnet and quietly says, "I'm suddenly having second thoughts about bringing Steven on this mission."

I say, "Pearl, he'll be fine. Just look at him."

Steven strikes a determined pose, and Garnet says, "Now let's go recover the gemstone."

We start walking through the gist strawberry field, avoiding the various Gem weapons littering the ground.

Pearl exclaims, "Unbelievable! This was once a Gem Battlefield, and now it's wild strawberries as far as the eye can see!" She twirls in joy, then continues, "Oh, that's what I love about the Earth! Maybe this will be a light mission after all."

We come to a halt in front of an upside-down pyramid temple, and Pearl bumps into Garnet, who says, "Maybe not."

Garnet summons a small pyramid piece from one of her gems and inserts it into an opening in the pyramid temple. A door appears, revealing a path into the temple.

As we enter the temple, Steven awes, "Woooaaahhh!" We enter an outer chamber, and he exclaims, "Steven's the best!" His words echo back to him, and he says, "Why thank you, temple."

Amethyst says, "You're a doof."

As we look around, I examine the murals etched into the walls, stopping at one of Rose fighting Pink Diamond near the ceiling. Something feels off about it. Pink looks almost apprehensive about fighting Rose in the mural, and Rose looks like she's the same size as Pink. Whoever made these did a lousy job. Pink had no qualms about shattering Crystal Gems, least of all Rose, and Rose was barely half Pink's size.
