Steven Universe: Chipped [Pearl x OC]

Chapter 1-10: Giant Woman

I’m snacking on some leftover bacon from this morning when Garnet warps in from her latest mission. Steven, Pearl, and Amethyst run inside from where they were playing water balloon checkers on the beach.

Steven immediately asks, “Ooh! Ooh! Did you bring me anything?” Garnet gives him a rock, and he exclaims, “Woah, a rock! Thanks, Garnet.”

He places the rock between his teeth as Pearl asks, “So, was your mission a success?”

I add, “Yeah, it seemed to take a bit longer than you thought it would.”

Garnet responds, “Missions are harder to predict some days, but I have located the Geode Beetles of Heaven and Earth. We should split up to retrieve them.”

Amethyst says, “Well, I’m going with not Pearl.”

Pearl snarks back, “Well, that’s perfect, because I don’t want to go with grammatically incorrect people anyway.”

Steven asks through bites of his rock, “Is her talking about me?”

I say, “No, Steven. Amethyst and Pearl are just fighting. Again.” I sigh, muttering, “This almost never happened when Pearl was around.”

Garnet says, “You four go together. I go alone.”

Pearl and Amethyst ask in unison, “What? Why?!”

Garnet explains, “The Earth Beetle’s at the bottom of the Boiling Lava Lake, and only I can swim in lava.”

She summons a pair of goggles in place of her visor over her eyes, and I say, “Must be great to be a heat-resistant Gem. So, where are the rest of us going?”

Garnet responds, “You’ll find the Heaven Beetle at the top of the Sky Spire. It’s safer.”

Amethyst groans, crossing her arms.

She mutters, “You mean boring-er.”

Pearl says, “You mean more boring.”

Amethyst smirks, saying, “So you agree with me.”

Pearl scoffs, walking toward the Warp Pad.

She says in an annoyed tone, “Ugh! Come on, you three. Let’s go.”

I take Steven’s rock out of his mouth and place it on the table in the living room, saying, “I’m pretty sure munching on rocks isn’t good for your human teeth.”

The two of us follow Pearl and Amethyst to the Warp Pad, and Garnet says, “Steven, be sure to keep the harmony.”

Steven says, “No problem. Today’s gonna be all about HAR-MO-NY!”

We warp over to the Sky Spire and Steven falls out of the warp-stream just before Amethyst, Pearl, and I land safely on the Warp Pad.

Steven asks, “Woah… is this where the Heaven Beetle lives?”

Pearl says, “Apparently.”

Amethyst adds, “All the way at the top.”

I shield my eyes from the sun and find a small temple at the top of the Spire. I haven’t been back here since just after the war. It doesn’t seem to have changed much.

As we start climbing the Spire, Steven asks, “So when you fuse, do you turn into a giant giant woman, or just a regular-sized giant woman?”

Amethyst groans. We all knew he’d start asking these kinds of questions once he learned about fusion. I just wish he’d pick a time where we’re not on a mission.

Steven asks another question, “Does one of you control the right arm and the other control the left arm?”

Pearl mutters, “Come on, Steven.”
