"Shiro, do you know where your father is?"

Shiro was surprised; he had never thought of that and never had a second to spare about it.

"No, I don't," Shiro shakes his head.

"Would you like to meet your father one day?"

Shiro stood there silently, he never even met his father before let alone had the urge to meet him, with these thoughts alone it should be easy to say no.

But something made him hesitate, he wasn't sure what it was.

"... Is he alive?" Shiro asked hesitantly, he hung his head fearing what possible answers could be given.

"It's just a speculation, but if my speculation is correct then yes your father is alive."

His ears perked up, his little head swarmed with difficult questions he wasn't sure he wanted answers to.

"W-who is my father?" Shiro felt his breath grow heavy from anxiety, his mind running wild and his hand fidgets gently pinching the flash of his palms.

"Your father is... You should find out at a later time when everything is confirmed, I'd rather you be aware of the possibility that your biological father is alive but once some proper research has been made I will inform-"

"Young master! Please, even if it's just a spec-uh s-" Shiro struggled to say big words, "Your guess, can you tell me who it is?"

Wilhelm thought of it, "I cannot give you false hope but I will say this for sure, your biological father is a noble from my home country, the Country Of Spade."

This caused Shiro to think.

His curiosity was slowly growing he couldn't even imagine what his father could look like nor could he imagine the reason why his father didn't come to meet Shiro or his mother this entire time.

Wilhelm could tell he was growing curious, so with a soft smile Wilhelm spoke up, "I think it's better you go back to your room and rest up, take your time to think about all of this."

Feeling conflicted Shiro was about to head back but Wilhelm couldn't help but feel sorry for the poor boy, "Shiro, I apologise you have to go through this."

His hand reached out into his fluffy blue hair, with a soft rustle of his hair Shiro saw something his eyes couldn't comprehend.

His face shows a beautiful light expression like a father soothing his upset child.

Shiro wasn't used to seeing a genuine expression on the workaholic Wilhelm, it felt so nice, he couldn't reject his warmth lightly petting his head, it reminded him of his mother when she was still alive, when she would always assure him that things will get better.

Her assurance that one day there will be bountiful food for all and no one will ever starve again, she would say how before the fire children's bellies would be full, they would laugh and dance every day on the streets.

At the time Shiro couldn't even dream of it, but after meeting Wilhelm, he could now envision the dream his mother mentioned, and this was all thanks to Wilhelm and the adults for making this tiny heaven.

Shiro's eyes flickered violently under the ray of sunlight, and his mind grew groggy from the pain of the sun, trying to resist the bright light he turned away from the bright rays hoping to find solemn in the darkness.

He turns in his sleep not wanting to close the curtains but as he turns he feels something warm to nestle into.

He was lulled into the warmth, he reached his arms out to hug the warmth close to his chest, he didn't want to deal with the cold wind stinging his skin.
