Third person's POV

The Raj household was one of love and laughter. A shining beacon of the picture perfect picket-fence life. In all their 23 years in this pack no one had a bad thing to say about them; to their face that is, behind their back they were mocked as the unnatural family who decided to keep an Omega child.

The head of the family Abhijeet Raj was a talented surgeon and pillar of the community. Among the werewolves he had a reputation for being level headed, highly knowledgeable and peaceful, trying to always be a peacekeeper and community builder.

But right now his hands bled as he dug his nails into his palms. His face was red with anger and all sorts of foul profanities were locked and loaded onto his lips, just raring to go.

Nalini Raj (neé Venkatesh) was a savvy investment banker who sauntered around town in smart Chanel suits and her soft chestnut hair bouncing behind her. She was a people's person, capable of navigating any social situation by batting her eye-lashes and flashing her delicate smile. If some rumours are to be believed, she was the inspiration behind K.T. Tunstall's classic "Suddenly I see".

Right now as she wiped her tear stricken puffy face with the sleeve of her Chanel cardigan, she realised that she had been reduced to a common assassin who resorts to poisoning people's breakfast like Typhoid Mary.

Rishi Raj was practically born with a halo around his head. Blessed with his mother's charisma and his father's leadership skills, he took to the role of an Alpha like a baby to a bottle. He was disciplined, physically proficient and had razor sharp battle reflexes. While he was a warrior through and through, he was also was an optimist who enjoyed life for all it had to offer. Most of all he looked forward to finding his mate and settling down.

His body struggled to keep up as his bandaged wrists throbbed in pain. His mental scars were still not healed yet all he could think of was how he failed to keep his family together.

Then there was Jai, the family runt. A stubborn and brave Omega with an unshakeable sense of self worth. He was the most chaotic combination of his family members: his father's temper and his mother's emotionality, with a brother who spoils him to death.

His fingers intertwined with his mate's but in his heart was grave terror. He was afraid that Darius would act all crazy and aggravate an already tense situation. He didn't want his father and Darius to fight again, the anxiety of it had him on the brink of tears. Why do Alphas have to fight all the time?

And in the middle of the kitchen, standing in a tight ill-fitting PowerPuff Girls t-shirt and a head full of bedroom hair was Darius, the Werewolf King. With one hand he held his mate and kept the other ready to fight Abhijeet if he had to...

...but then he saw Jai's face which registered deep panic and fear. His eyes silently pleaded his father to not rile Darius up, cause out of the two he was more likely to listen.

As much as he wanted Jai's closeness, he desired his trust more.

"I'll leave you to spend time with your family love." He said kissing Jai's hand. "I've a meeting with Alpha Loughlan anyway."

"Mr. And Mrs. Raj it was wonderful seeing you, and Rishi we're so happy you're back safe and sound." He said turning to the three Rajs before carefully exiting the kitchen.

Despite his show of giving Jai space, he wanted to be called back. He just wanted Jai to need him, want him and desire him.

"Darius.." Jai spoke causing Darius to run back and engulf him in a tight embrace. He kissed his face and buried his nose in his Jai's hair without caring at all what anyone thought. He was beyond ecstatic that Jai had decided to call him back to his side.
