Mateo's POV

" Karen was here."

"Why was she here?" Chase made himself comfortable in his chair

" Xander wants to see me before the the society meeting." He looked outside the window

"And he couldn't tell you himself?"

"That's what I'm trying to figure out. Why would Karen say I need her?"

" She said you need her?"

" Yes apparently I do."

" Maybe it's the whole her having a crush on you thing."

" It seemed deeper than that."

" You're overthinking it." He got up and poured himself a drink," Any way I came to say I'm leaving."

" You're leaving?"

He downed the drink," Don't pretend like you're gonna miss me, you've been tryn'a throw me out."

" Well I have and I'm sad I don't get to throw you out."

" I have to do something for the council, you know how it is. I'll be back. Then you'll throw me out."

" It'd be my pleasure." He smiled

Chase left and he finished reading a few documents he had to take back to finance. He went to his house, he had to go to Monaco for the meeting with Xander, the head of the council.  With Chase gone he was kinda bored but he wouldn't admit it. He was at work briefing the marketing team on the strategies, Karen came and brought him lunch. During the lunch he got the call from the society that he had to leave for Monaco as soon as possible, so he dashed to his home and dropped everything. Then he found the cleaners there

" We are very sorry. We were told you wouldn't be here until 5 so we only just got here." Claire apologised but Mateo had his eyes on Aspen.

" What are you doing here?" He couldn't help himself, he just said it without thinking.

" We work together. We were told two was the maximum." Claire answered

" Do I know you?" Aspen finally spoke

" No."

" She just thought maybe you knew each other. You were staring at her, I mean ofcourse you don't know her. Never seen her before."

"Do you always let your friend speak for you?" He leaned on his side

" She likes defending me."

" I see. Well I'll get straight to it, I don't want you working over here."

" What? We haven't even cleaned, despite what it looks like I promise we're very competent. That is why we were hired."

"Her not you." He was still looking at Aspen.

" If you fire Aspen I won't work as well."

" Suit yourself."

" You can't do that, just because you are rich doesn't mean you should treat people like scum. You're being an asshole."

" I'm sorry. Claire didn't mean that."

" I'm not. I meant it. You're being a dick. Do you know what this job means to Aspen? She works to pay bills at home, while taking care of her mom who has cancer all by herself. There's nothing special about you or your house. So we're going to clean this house."

He was dumbfounded nobody had ever talked to him in that way before. He suddenly started liking the girl.

" And if you think you're that fancy. We'll take you to court for unfair dismissal. How would you like that?"

" Fine. You clean, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to fire you pretty soon. "

" You make the dirt and we'll clean it."

" Where do we start?" Aspen finally spoke up

" Start anywhere. You're the cleaners."
