Today is the day I have to go to my best friend's funeral. I have broken down almost 3 times and that is even before I got dressed. I am a complete mess.

I head downstairs and see all the guys wearing black tuxes with sad looks on their faces.

"Hey, Carter do you mind if we stop by Kayden's home before going to the funeral," I ask

"Of course. Just give me the address," He says and I nod.

1 Hour Later

We make it to Kayden's house and I step out of the car. I take a deep breath taking out the key that was underneath his welcome mat. When I open the door I see everything is almost packed. I walk around remembering our memories here.

Flashback

"Love Bug, come on we are gonna be late," Kayden says yanking off my blanket

"Kay, please just five more minutes," I say groaning. He plops down next to me and begins running his fingers through my hair.

"Okay, Love Bug, just five," He says pulling me closer to him and I fall back asleep.

Flashback Over

I look around his room and see a hit Cowboy hat. I grab it along with a couple of other things and walk out.

"Hey, baby girl. You okay?" Carter asks looking at me with a small smile. But I can tell he is just trying to help.

"Yeah, let's go before we are late," I tell him walking out the door.

30 Minutes Later

We make it and when I get out I look around and begin to tear up as I see all the military men. Kayden and my father were close. My dad always said he was like a son to him, so I made the decision to find my dad's grave and have Kayden buried next to him. Taking a seat the ceremony begins. About 15 minutes go by and a Military man kneels down in front of me and hands me a folded American flag.

"He served his country well and always talked about you, Alex," He says and I look at him shocked before he salutes me stands back up, and walks over to Kayden's casket and about 8 of them pick it up and bring it over to the the whole he will be buried in. I follow behind holding onto his hat and flag. Gunshots go off and that is when the tears finally fall. They all salute before walking away and driving off.

(Guys don't count me on this I do not know how a military send-off goes)

I walk over to his tombstone kiss it to say my final goodbye along with my daddies, and walk away. For the rest of tonight, I stayed locked in my room not eating or talking to anyone no matter how hard they tried. I just couldn't, not today.
