A week. A week since I lost him. A week since I have talked to anyone. A week since I have done anything. It is like I can't come out of whatever dark hole I am lying in and it hurts. Sighing to myself I get up to get dressed for the day.

After doing that I headed downstairs to the kitchen where everyone was already. Instead of saying anything I take a seat and grab a piece of toast. Just then the doorbell rings and I sit there. Malachi gets up and opens the door and when he comes back in he is pulling a large trunk in. Wait a minute I know that trunk. I shoot up out of my seat and run over to it and just as he sets it down I open it. Tears form in my eyes as I see all my daddy's things. His military information, his flag, his medals, his cowboy hat, and so many other things like our pictures and songs. I see a note that has fallen to the floor and pick it up, slowly opening it.

Hey, Love Bug this all belongs to you. The night you called me crying saying your mother was burning all your father's things I knew I had to do something. So I went over there as she was passed out and grabbed all his things I could save. It may not be everything but I knew this all meant something to you. Take it as my last birthday present to you, Love Bug. I love you to the moon and back.

Until I see you again in the stars- Kayden

I begin crying again but this time it is happy tears. I smile as I see the most important things in the trunk. I even see some of Kayden's things. I had snuck out a couple of nights ago and went back to the cemetery and grabbed his hat I just couldn't part with it.

"Oh, thank god," Ali says and I look at him confused.

"I thought we would never see that beautiful smile again," He says making me giggle. For the rest of that night I sat there going through the trunk with everyone telling them how each one had a story and then told them that story.
