After morning classes, Han and Felix walked towards the first floor. Another physical training with Hyunjin. Felix was nervous since he really scared him, the way he had taken Jessie by her throat making her leave with just a few words. It showed the type of power he had here, Felix still couldn't understand why someone so young was that powerful.
He decided to ignore it and try his best today. "Today we're practicing weapon use," a guard said "the groups are divided by Mister Hwang." Felix walked towards the screen; he was paired with Chris.
"Asshole..." he muttered. "You don't agree with Mister Hwang's decisions?" Chris asked with a stupid grin on his face. "You made him do this, no?" Felix snapped back.
"I don't know what you're talking about. Anyways we have to start with rifles, follow me," Chris says innocently. They walk up to the armory and each grab a bullet proof vest along with a rifle and some munition.
Felix had never used a gun before, that was the one thing he couldn't practice, since he didn't have a gun back in the 5th region.
They walk up to the targets, Felix scanned the room, still no Hyunjin. He was relieved since he was scared of him being extra hard on Felix after yesterday's events.
Chris aimed at the target and shot the bullet perfectly straight and bragged: "Headshot, easy." Felix didn't bother complimenting him, since he probably grew up doing this sort of thing.
Felix positioned himself in front of the target and concentrated on holding the gun right. He knew how to hold one, he just hasn't done it before. Pang. Right above the targets head. "Ah, too bad, man," Chris sighed and added chuckling, "you're shaking when you shoot, have you never used a gun before or something?"
Felix shot him a dirty glance and said: "Actually, First son, yes I have not. Not everyone grows up with these kinds of heavy guns and private training. In case you forgot, people in the fifth region aren't even allowed to own one, we can't even protect ourselves."
"Geez, I was just joking. Can you stop the underprivileged act?" he said annoyed, "Here, I'm just a candidate like all of you."
Felix scoffed and shook his head: "I'll stop if you act like one." Felix shot again, hitting the target right between the eyes. "Nice shot, stray!" someone said approaching them.
Felix looks behind him to see Hyunjin walking up to them, he looked extra fine today. He wore a tank top barely covering anything and grey shorts. He was completely drenched in sweat and a drop of sweat fell on his bottom lip, which his tongue quickly wiped away.
Felix was mesmerized, how did he look so good. "Ah Hwang, went for a run?" Chris asked his tall friend. Hyunjin just nods as he wipes his forehead with his wrist. Felix stared for a moment and focused back on his gun.
He shot again, hitting the target on its neck. "Your form is slightly off, stray," Hyunjin said as he walked up behind him. He could smell his sweat, which didn't even smell horrible, Felix had to admit.
He reached over Felix's shoulder and moved the gun up a little and used his other hand to push Felix's back slightly forward and after that he kept his hand right there.
"Beautiful... ," he said. "What?" Felix muttered in confusion. "Beautiful form," he answered and stepped back, "Now shoot."
Felix pulled the trigger hitting the target perfectly in the head receiving a nod from Hyunjin and Chris. "Thank you sir, for teaching me," Felix said and Hyunjin just turned around and walked away to talk to a few guards.
"He's quite something, isn't he?" Chris broke the silence. "What's up with him, why is he so young?" Felix whispered, his curiosity piqued.
Chris leaned in, a spark appeared in his eyes. "Oh, you'll find his story quite fascinating. He's not what you'd call 'privileged'" Chris said with a smirk, Felix just rolled his eyes and let him continue: "Seven years ago, our guards found him in the south of Dystoria, when he was only sixteen."
Felix quickly did the math: so he's only 23? Felix nods as he's waiting for more of the story.
"The Beldonians had invaded his city, a brutal attack that left nothing but death and destruction. They took everything from him: his family, his friends, his neighbors," Chris continued, his voice tinged with a mix of admiration and awe.
Felix raised an eyebrow, "So he was a survivor."
Chris nodded. "Indeed. By the time our Veil guards arrived in the city, it was deserted. Not a single Beldonian remained alive. Hyunjin, he killed them all."
Felix's eyes widened as he absorbed the rest of the story. "He's strong," Felix whispered.
Chris grinned: "Strong, smart, and incredibly talented. But he's dangerous, Felix. Which is our strength but also our weakness."
Felix couldn't help but be intrigued. "So what happened next?"
"They brought him here for training, but he can't be trained. He barely listened. He still doesn't," Chris chuckled, his tone showed how much he loved Hyunjin.
"It was clear to everyone that he was destined to become a shadow. So, when he turned 21, they made him one."
"He's feared among the Beldonians, they call him the black raven. They haven't done many attacks since that day, which is why he's our strenght" Chris says.
Felix felt the tattoo on his back sting, so that's what Jessie with admiration for the black raven. The tattoo felt a bit stupid, right now.
"It's been seven years... won't they think he's dead?" Felix asked.
Chris nods and says: "Yep, that's why we have to be careful, since they will attack at some point."
"Chris? You said he's our strength and our weakness. Why is he our weakness?" Felix asked curious.
"Hes uncontrolable, dangerous, stubborn and most of all unpredictable. A lot of shadows want him dead along with the Beldonians. He's in danger but he doesn't care. He can't be protected either..."
Chris walked away and put his weapons back in the armory.
After training Felix went to his apartment as he thought about Hyunjin. He's incredible yes, but Felix couldn't help but think about how lonely he must be. He was only sixteen.
How does a sixteen-year-old manage to do something like that. Felix thought about what he would do if his family got killed like that.
He entered the apartment and saw Han watching tv on the coach, he walked past him and sat next to him. He had his course book of the history of Dystoria with him, he planned on studying since they also must pass knowledge tests. "Are you for real going to study?" Han questioned. Felix just hummed and focused on the words in his book.
"You smart ass," Han chuckled and he lowered the volume of the tv so Felix would be able to focus. "Hey Han, do you know about the black raven?" Felix said out of nowhere. "No, I don't, is that the thing from your tattoo?" he asked. Felix just shook his head and said: "No it's nothing, nevermind."
I wonder if people know, Hyunjin is the black raven. I mean since Chris is the First son he knows this type of stuff. I'm not sure if I'm supposed to know. And for Hyunjin's safety it's probably for the best that no one knows.
