Night. A moonlit sky cast a glaze upon the cliffed landscapes that transformed into great plains, overshadowed by the distant forest. The waters in the canyon sparkled. The cliff face still holding visible signs of damage. Lines of scarred rock, parts of the face missing and floating in huge dilapidated chunks below and even a good large line starting at the top of one. This one was traced along the grass in a large shallow trench, reaching miles out through the forest and stopping at a huge clearing where trees had been flattened and a huge crater maintained the space a small ledge had once sat rooted in. The twilight was silent and serene, with not even a sound around or a person in sight out on those plains.
A sharp contrast to the events of that day. Truly, it couldn't have been expected for any of them that THIS would be the result. Nor could it have been more poetically cruel how calm and still the world was, aside from the lights of the far-off city. To be honest, though, it was a nicer outcome for all of them.
He stood in that field, still jittery and honestly a bit in pain. His arms shook slightly, despite there being no breeze. His eyes shone their signature aqua, like the waters from the daytime and his jet booster irked to expand from his metallic spine and for him to just blast off. Despite it having been possible hours since it had happened, he found he couldn't sleep at all. The charger in his neck would just feel stiff and he felt no flow of the current, so he really couldn't get any more energy.
He stared down at his arms. One of them seemed fine if pulsing a little with that radiant blue glow. The other was less an arm and more a scrapped-together metal pole attached to him, bent and without feeling. The paint peeling, revealing the silvery metal underneath that reflected from his glowing blue eyes. The whole thing was wrapped together with the now-dead Vira Bracelet that Dark had made.
Dark.
He'd thrown away his dream, his very power and his strength to save him. He cast his own desire's away to save him. A stupid machine who got in the way and may as well have ruined everything. Dark had everything under control and might even have been able to take down that orange guy. Hell, HE should've tried to take down the orange guy, instead of being stupid and risking his own life.
But Dark had saved him.
Over and over, again and again he should've died. But he never did. Because of Dark. He always lived, thanks to Dark, even when he shouldn't. And now here he was, blaming himself for caring.
Well of course he couldn't care. He was a machine. A robot. Someone like could never care for someone, no matter how much humanity they truly had. A machine is a machine is a machine. That was all there too it. At least, that's what he always knew.
"White, can you help me sort these files?".
Huh?
That voice sounded so familiar. Like he heard it before. Like he had known that person.
But that wasn't possible. He never heard that voice, ever. White didn't know who that person could be. Nothing in his memory logs OR personal memory seemed to remind him of such a incident. Yet he swore he knew that voice. He wanted to see that person again and he didn't know why.
"Don't worry, I'll handle this. It's just a computer bug.".
Those words now echoed through his mind with harrow and sorrow, despite the speaker behind containing neither of either. Something bad was about to happen and he wanted to stop it. He needed to stop it. His fist clenched something and he felt scared. And his eyes buzzed as he saw not but the darkness and a bright, small blue screen with text he could barely make out as he felt angry. Something bad was happening.
No. Happened.
Something bad happened. Something terrible. Truly a horrific event that should never have been, so destructively carnage inducing and outright venomous, it made him want to hurl and through a fist forward. He couldn't even help the feeling as he felt something in his grip seem to sizzle and crumble. Something he was going to destroy. To kill.
