**FLASHBACK**

"Katsuki~! You forgot to bring you lunch, again!" Mitsuki, Bakugou's mom, shouted as she dashed towards young Bakugou who was busy preparing himself for school. And as she approached the young boy with his lunch in hand, he blushed from embarrassment.

"Mom, have you prepared... it?" He asked shyly, facing away from the woman who had her hand on her waist smiling at the boy.

"Yeah, how could I not, my little brat." She chuckled, ruffling young Bakugou's little spiky hair. "Today's your special  day after all." She chimed.

"S-Shut up!" Bakugou huffed, but grabbing the lunch box hastily as he darted for the door. "Take care now, Katsuki!" His mom waved for the boy.

"It's lunch time!"  Bakugou chimed happily.

"Now, where is he...." Bakugou spoke absentmindedly, looking for a certain friend of his that he had grown fond of. And on the way to school, finally saw Izuku, who was just sitting by himself on the playground. Slowly, he approached the said person, he could see that he was sad.

"Why are you alone, Deku?" He asked him, while the other only gave him a cold shoulder.

The nickname he used was the one he used to ridicule him before, but these days they had made up, ever since they found out that they have the same tastes that no one else in his class are also fond of.

"I-I made you lunch!" Bakugou smiled, opening it and showing it to Izuku. "Look! It's All MIght!"

And at that moment, Izuku's eyes glinted with joy, and was now looking towards Bakugou with hesitance in his face.

"B-But... That's yours, isn't it?" Izuku asked with sadness this time. While Bakugou only shook his head in denial. "Hm-hm. I have my own! See?" He flashed another set of lunch box.

"A-Another All MIght?" Izuku huffed with happiness. "I-Is it all right if I eat it?"

Bakugou nodded enthusiastically. "It's for you." He smiled widely. And Izuku was so happy that time that he literally leaped towards Bakugou. "Really?!" His eyes glinted with pure happiness.

"Yeah!"

The two ate quietly, enjoying each other's company when Izuku suddenly spoke up.

"By the way, Kacchan? You lie." Izuku pouted. "It's your mom who made this right?"

Hearing it, Bakugou just nodded softly, obviously sheepish from the other's question. And Izuku, upon seeing the flustered expression from his only dear friend in his childhood, chuckled then finally laughing.

"H-Hey! Don't laugh- pfft- hahaha!" Bakugou tried reprimanding him, but failing.

"K-Kacchan... I have to move away soon...." Izuku let Katsuki know, his tone laced with sadness. And the weather surrounding them right now didn't help him either. If not better, it only enhanced it even more.

Gloomy. Mellow. And a miniscule away from pouring down.

"W-Wha-? Why Deku?" Bakugou tried speaking up, but the sadness also start to creep him down. "Why do you have to leave..?

"...It's my mother." Izuku gripped the fabric of his shorts. "She said that we're going to move with papa overseas." He sobbed.

"Are you going to leave me here?" Bakugou said exasperatedly, before shaking his head furiously. "No! I-I don't want that! O-Oh I know, I can talk to mom and ask her to talk to your mom, they're friends!"

Bakugou exclaimed, but Izuku only shaken his head; feeling tears starts to form on his eyes.

"N-No... She already said that she talked to your mom..." He trailed off. "There's nothing we can do." He sobbed.

"B-But, I don't want you to leave me." Bakugou said softly, sadness finally catching up to him. "You know that you're the only best friend I have here that also like All MIght."

"I know...And you're the only friend I have, Kacchan." Izuku retorted.

At that moment, Bakugou braved the sadness and hugged Izuku tightly, garnering every ounce of his courage to fight this ordeal.

"I like you, Izuku." Bakugou said softly, before pulling away, taking in Izuku's shocked expression. "Do you know about promises? Mom said that they are like wishes and we shouldn't break it and hold true to it, no matter what!" He clenched his fist with hope.

"P-Promise?" Izuku reiterated, while Bakugou nodded. "Go on, you're the one who's leaving make me my promise, Izuku!"

Izuku pondered deeply, as he tried to construct the proper words for it, before encouraging himself. This time, with hope flaring in his eyes. "Alright!"

"I wish..." Izuku started, but Bakugou only goaded him.

"It's not I 'wish' baka (idiot) C'mon, do it again! The right one this time!" He smiled and Izuku nodded.

"I promise I will be back for you, Kacchan!" Izuku smiled widely and Bakugou did the same. "C'mon, your turn now, Kacchan!"  Bakugou then gleamed with determination.

"Well then I...I promise when I grow up, I will marry you!" Bakugou proudly said earning him Izuku's blushing face. "What?! No, Kacchan I should be the one saying that! I'll change my promise-"

Bakugou only flashed his tongue. "Ble! You can only make promises at a given time, Deku!"

"K-Kacchan! You meanie!"

.

.

"Mom?" Bakugou rubbed his eyes as drowsiness fought him. "Where are we going?"

Mitsuki who was busy focusing on the road only glanced at the rearview mirror to watch Bakugou arising from his sleep this late at night. "To the hospital, my dear." She said, emotionlessly; almost answering almost robotically.

"What?" Bakugou groaned. "Why? Aren't hospitals bad, like you said?"

A moment of silence passed while Mitsuki tried to formulate the right words for Bakugou.

"No..." She trailed off. "I-It's about Izuku."

And hearing it, Bakugou's eyes widened, wondering what happened to his friend.

.

.

.

"N-No...! I-It can't be- are you saying he's going to be retarded from now on?!" Inko (Izuku's mother) shouted at the doctor who was speaking to her, while Mitsuki was holding her back.

Meanwhile, Bakugou sneaked inside while the adults were busy chatting,

"Izuku!" Bakugou called out to the boy, who had just woken up. Looking dazed while he observed his surroundings, then laying his eyes on a certain blond haired kid beside him.

"A-Are you okay, Izuku?" Bakugou asked with genuine concern in his voice, glancing at the bandages that covered Izuku's body and head.

Hearing the query, Izuku's mouth opened a little bit as he spoke his answer.

"Who are you?"
